]]> President Akufo-Addo on Tuesday, February 21, 2017, presented his first state of the nation address to Parliament in accordance with Article 67 of the Constitution.

The President touched on issues ranging from the economy, education, health and energy among others.

Despite painting a gloomy picture of the economy as bequeathed to him from the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC), the President said he would ensure that the Ghanaian economy does not collapse under his watch.

]]> President John Mahama on Saturday presented the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) 2016 manifesto in Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region.

The manifesto, according to Mahama, hinges on four thematic areas, which includes putting people first, strong and resilient economy, responding to social infrastructure and improving transparent and accountable governance.

President Mahama had said he will aggressively implement the manifesto in its entirety if given a second term mandate on December 7, 2016.

He further stated that, the manifesto does not contain mere promises meant to entice Ghanaians to vote for the party.

According to him, the manifesto captures the unique plans of the NDC to move Ghana forward if given the mandate to serve for a second term.

]]> The New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s running mate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, on Thursday, September 8, 2016, delivered a lecture on what in his view the state of the Ghanaian economy is.

The lecture, held at the National Theatre, was under the theme, “The state of the Ghanaian economy – A foundation of concrete or straw” and was chaired by former President John Agyekum Kufuor.

Dr. Bawumia touched on a wide variety of topics including Ghana’s  International Monetary Fund (IMF) bailout programme, a decline in the country’s per capita income, fiscal deficit, infrastructure and agriculture.

He also downplayed President Mahama and the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) supposed  achievements in the last eight years, and rubbished claims by the President that NPP’s election petition after the 2012 polls stalled development.
