Ghana dropped four places to the 54th position in the latest Coca-Cola FIFA Ranking released on Thursday.

The Black Stars had occupied the 50th position in the January ranking but lost 68 points to drop out of the top 50.

The Black Stars, however, still remain the 8th ranked team in Africa, behind Tunisia, Senegal, DR Congo, Morocco, Egypt, Cameroon and Nigeria who occupy the top 7 spots.

Burkina Faso and Algeria make up the top 10 on the continent, ranked 9th and 10th respectively.

Globally, Germany remain the top-ranked team, followed by Brazil, Portugal, Argentina and Belgium who make up the top 5.

The next world rankings will be released on March 15.

Ghana fell two places to 52nd in the latest FIFA rankings released today by the world governing body for the month of September.

Between the last rankings in August and now, the main Black Stars team has drawn once and won once both in matches with Congo Brazzaville while the Black Stars B team lost 2-1 to Burkina Faso in the qualifiers for the 2018 CHAN tournament in Kenya.

These results went into the determining the team’s position on the global rankings.

On the continent, Ghana is 8th while Egypt, Tunisia, Senegal, DR Congo and Nigeria are in the top five places respectively.

Germany, Brazil,  Portugal, Argentina, Belgium, Poland, Switzerland, France, Chile and Colombia close out the top ten teams in the rankings.

The Black Stars’ defeat to Egypt in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers cost the team a significant fall in the FIFA ranking for the month of November.

The Black Stars are down eight places on the world ranking to the 53rd position and four places down to ninth in Africa.

Ghana lost 2-0 to the Pharaohs of Egypt at the Borg El-Arab Stadium in Alexandria to lose grounds in Group E of the qualifiers.

Egypt leapfrogged ten places to the 36th position and Number 4 in Africa.

Senegal, despite losing 2-1 at South Africa, remains the continent’s highest ranked nation and 33rd in the world followed by Cote d’Ivoire and Tunisia, who are tied in the 34th position.

Argentina remain tops for November, but have seen their command on the summit weakened by close rivals Brazil.
