A senior educationist and former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Professor Ivan Addae Mensah has called for maximum security in the handling of examination questions in the country to preserve the integrity of examinations.

Major external examinations in Ghana have seen leaks to students leading widespread cancellations of affected examination papers.

[contextly_sidebar id=”enrZ57idS0DndBIZciLKt8PU9p9FRPbo”]Speaking at the first national expert forum organized by the University Teachers’ Association of Ghana (UTAG), Prof. Addae Mensah suggested that only qualified personnel be permitted to secure and officiate examinations in the country at the relevant levels.

“In a chain of carefully formulate procedures, there ought to be specific designated very senior and responsible officers for all actions at every stage of the process,” he said.

Prof. Addae Mensah noted that this chain begun right from the time the candidates register through to when the question items are written, registration forms are prepared adding that, “these registration forms must be thoroughly checked to ensure that all relevant information is captured and not false information or impersonation takes place.”

He stressed that,“every care must be taken to ensure maximum security in the processing of the question from setting to printing up to the day and time the examination is taken. No person who held responsible for any specific task should be allowed under any circumstances to get anywhere near the questions.”
