The death of Dancehall artiste Ebony, might spark a reunion between her parents who have been divorced for a long time.

Beatrice Oppong, mother of the late Ebony Reigns, although non-committal, has hinted that patching up things with her ex-husband is on the cards.

In an interview with Kumasi-based Silver FM, the host who expressed joy at seeing Beatrice and Ebony’s father together at the funeral of their deceased daughter,  said it would be great if she gets back together with Nana Poku-Kwarteng.

“It was nice seeing you and Mr. Kwarteng move together during the funeral. My prayer is to see the two of you get together again on the occasion of your daughter’s death,” the host said.

In a response that subtly proves a possibility of the comeback of the divorced parents, Ebony’s mother replied: “I’ve heard you.”

Ebony grew up being with her father and lived almost all of her life with him because her mother travelled to the UK after she had been divorced from her father.

Born Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng, Ebony died on 8th February, 2018 with two other friends when returning from a visit at Sunyani.

Ricky Nana Agyeman, known in showbiz as Bullet, has revealed that some musicians are demanding money before they perform at Ebony’s tribute concert slated for 23rd March, 2018.

The manager of the deceased dance hall artiste who vented his spleen on the matter, described the artistes in question as ‘hypocrites.’

According to Bullet, because of the huge attendance at Ebony’s one week commemoration and the heavy media presence, the musicians came in their numbers and used the platform to interact with their fans.

“Some of our Ghanaian artistes are very hypocrite, you came to Ebony’s one week observation because the numbers were there and again it was being telecast live on air so some of you came there to use the platform. Now you’re asking me to pay you for her tribute concert. I thought you loved her as you claimed on stage at her one week. This is pure hypocrisy. Big thanx to every artistes who has decided to support us. We are grateful,” the post reads.

However, Bullet did not mention which artistes had demanded money to perform at the concert.

On the eve of the day for Ebony’s funeral, 24th March, 2018, the management of Ebony and the Musicians Union of Ghana will hold the vigil concert at the Trade Fair Centre in Accra. It is expected that musicians would perform at the programme in honour of the late artiste.

Stonebwoy, Becca, Sarkodie, Edem, VIP, R2Bees, Edem, Shatta Wale, Kofi Kinaata and Efya, Samini, Kwabena Kwabena, Tic Tac, Nana Yaa, Obour, Barima Sidney, MzVee, Teephlow, and other musicians are billed to perform at the concert.

The final funeral rites and burial service will be held on March 24 , 2018 at the forecourt of the State House in Accra.

A rising Ghanaian artiste identified as O Gee, who has been captured in numerous videos with Ebony in romantic positions, has come out as the boyfriend of singer Ebony Reigns after her death.

The two were pretty close when she was alive and he’s been speaking out in sorrow since she passed.

O Gee, speaking on GhOne TV, revealed that he was actually chatting with Ebony at the time she passed away.

According to him, they were chatting on Snapchat and making fun of each other when she suddenly stopped replying his messages.

Lamenting Ebony’s death, he said she was a special lady who treated him like a king and he doesn’t know where he will find another lady like that again.

“…A few days before she died, she prepared Jollof for me; Ebony knew I love Jollof and would always do it for me. She was like my mother,” he revealed.

“Her smiles were infectious, she had a kind heart, she had so many lined-up activities for this year, we were going to tour Europe.” “Who else is going to be like Ebony? I don’t think I will find someone as special and talented like her,” he said with tears in his eyes.

The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) is demanding the dualization of major intercity highways in the country.

The president of the Union, Bice Osei Kuffuor, also known as Obuor, in an interaction with the press at the 1-week memorial of late dancehall musician, Ebony said the failure of successive governments to dualize major highways has resulted in several preventable deaths.

[contextly_sidebar id=”CxhBw3L5V30YYQkvVITcTB0FWRCa8bgF”]He said it was about time something urgent is done about the situation and the Union will embark on a massive campaign to demand action in that regard.

He bemoaned the increasing spate of road accidents resulting in the death of many Ghanaians.

Obuor told the press that, “when Ebony died, she didn’t just die, it calls for a revolution for us to make a movement towards solving this problem of road carnages. Ghana must welcome us. We will be coming to the districts, regions, cities to solicit for public consensus because it is about time that Ghana as a country has dual carriage roads across all regions. And that is something that we want Ebony’s [death] to be remembered for.

He said MUSIGA will champion the campaign through important collaborations with governmental and arts bodies including the GHAMRO to ensure that road carnages are significantly reduced.

Ebony, born, Priscilla Opoku Kwarteng died in a road accident on February 8, 2018 when a jeep she was travelling in skidded off its lane and ran into a VIP bus at Mankraso in the Ashanti Region.

Her death brings to memory other similar events involving celebrities such as Suzzy Williams, Terry Bonchaka, Kwame Owusu-Ansah and Vybrant Faya.

Meanwhile, the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Catherine Abelema  Afeku, has said her Ministry will embark on a road safety awareness campaign to ensure sanity on the roads to save more lives.

Speaking at Ebony’s one-week memorial service on Sunday, she charged players in the entertainment industry to take the lead in road safety campaigns.

“This is a rallying call for the musicians, the artistes of Ghana to come together and to make a bold statement on road safety on the lives of the precious talent and creative citizens of this country, and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture will support you,” she said.
