Citi FM has donated assorted items worth thousands of cedis to the Baptist School Complex and Orphanage (BASCO) as part of the 2018 Easter Orphan Project.

The station also donated an amount of GHc 10,000 to the orphanage.

The items donated included bags of rice, sugar, cereals as well as drinks and stationery.

 

Staff, clients and listeners of the station contributed the items which were donated on Easter Monday.

The annual event is in fulfillment of the station’s quest to support the less privileged.

A representative of Bascom,  who received the items on behalf of the school, Richard Kwofie, thanked the station and its listeners for the kind gesture.

The Easter Orphan Project also made its way to two other orphanages; the Handivangelism Orphanage at Haatso in Accra, and Mama Laadi Orphanage at Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region.

At the Mama Laadi Orphanage, Citi FM donated cash to support the payment of the fees of three orphans at the Nursing training college.

Founder of the orphanage, Mama Laadi, expressed her profound gratitude for the support.

Staff of Citi FM are headed to three selected orphanages in the country to make some donations to them as part of the Easter celebration.

The orphanages, which Citi FM has been supporting for 13 years, include the Baptist School Complex (BASCO) an orphanage at Trotor, near Suhum in the Eastern Region, the Handivangelism Orphanage at Haatso in Accra, and Mama Laadi Orphanage at Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region.

Over the years, Citi FM has supported Orphanages with cash donations, stationery, food items and more, mostly collected from the station’s listeners and clients.

This year, Citi FMs support to Mama Laadi will be solely in cash.

In 2013, the station through the support of its listeners and corporate Ghana, built a vocational training center for BASCO, and the centre is intended to cater for training in carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, hairdressing, and masonry.

The Easter Orphan Project is a part of the Citi FM’s Corporate Social Responsibility activities.

Students, pupils and teachers of Saps School Ltd in Teshie-Nungua, continued their longstanding support of Citi FM’s social interventions with a donation to the Easter Orphan Project.

The school donated bags of rice, oil, tomato paste, boxes of biscuits and cartons of soft drinks for the outreach which will take place on Easter Monday, April 2.

Like an annual tradition, headteachers at the school. Esther Pataa and Annie Ansah-Addo were again at Citi FM’s premises to make the donation on behalf of the school.

The Easter Orphan Project is a social intervention which seeks to support the selected orphanages with enough supplies to last them for a whole year.

Voltic Ghana Limited, a subsidiary of Coca-Cola Beverages, has made donations to Citi FM’s Easter Orphan Project.

The company donated 100 cartons of Voltic Mineral water, 50 cartons of soft drinks, and 500 sachets of  Voltic Cool Pac water, and an assortment of their new line of products; Capro-sonne fruit juice, Happy Hour fruit juice and Hollandia milk.

According to the Country Sales and Marketing Manager at Voltic Ghana Limited, Raymond Mensah Gbetivi, the company made the donation in line with its current corporate social responsibility agenda.

He also pledged the company’s continuous support to the project.

“Voltic as a business is also concerned about people who don’t have enough to cater for themselves so as part of our corporate social responsibility we also donate to orphanages from time to time. Last year [2017], we supported with the same package but this year [2018], we have increased it to include our new products and we will continue to do that in the future”

Citi FM together with its cherished listeners has once again put a smile on the faces of the children at the Handivangelism Orphanage Home located at Haatso in Accra.

At a donation to mark the annual Easter Orphan Project, the station through its listeners presented an amount of Ghc4, 000 cedis, in addition to assorted items including confectioneries, toiletries and food items worth thousands of cedis to the home, which caters for some 60 children.

Receiving the items and the cheque from Citi FM’s Accountant, Nana Agyenim Boateng, the Director, Pastor Reindolf Ashley, expressed immense gratitude for the kind gesture.

He said the home is grateful for the seven year-long show of love to the kids.

“We have been running this home for the past thirteen years. Most of these children are street children and some orphaned ones. Your visit every year helps to sustain this home and always puts a smile on the faces of these kids. We will be forever grateful to you. God bless you so much.”

Some of the kids who spoke to Citi News were particularly excited about the assorted drinks that were presented as part of the items.

The team of Citi staff and volunteers spent some   time with the kids, distributing some of the drinks to them.

16 year old James Amanor said, “We are given snacks for school every day so I’m very excited to see more drinks here. We’ll take a lot to school.”

Eight year old Emmanuela could not wait to get her hands on the toys among the items.

“I see all the dolls presented to us and I know we’re going to have a lot of fun. I’m very excited. God bless Citi FM,” she said.

Two other orphanages, the Baptist School Complex (BASCO) at Trotor, near Suhum in the Eastern Region, and the Mama Laadi Orphanage in the Upper East Region, have also received items and cash donations worth thousands of cedis.

The past few months saw a number of corporate entities and individuals donate items in cash and kind, in support of the outreach to BASCO and two other orphanages; Mama Lardi Orphanage in the Upper East Region and Handivangelism Orphanage in Accra.

The donated items, comprising toiletries, books, stationary and foodstuff, were presented to the orphanage, which is headed by Reverend Victor Ofori-Amoah, during the outreach today [Monday].
