The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Centre of Peace and Reconciliation (CPR), Dr. Emmanuel Kojo Hopeson has urged Ghanaian leaders to factor in conflict resolution mechanisms in their endevours.

According to him, conflict affects the progress of every state therefore attention must be paid to conflict resolution.

Addressing the media at an Alternative Dispute & Conflict Resolution (ADCR) – Foundation Level course taking event, Dr. Hopeson said the nation must see the resolution of conflict as a collective effort.

“Individuals, families, political leaders, civil servants, parliamentarians, inter and intra political leaders must know how to resolve conflicts, the skill and professionalism of the management of conflict resolution must be acquired by all. Conflict resolution must be inculcated into the country’s culture. The problem the nation has to deal with is we the citizens have distilled our thought pattern about our spirit of patriotism and this is a major conflict we have in the country.”

He bemoaned how citizens speak ill of the country which he said is a major conflict that must be resolved as a state.

“Citizens speak well of other countries but speak badly of Ghana. Most of the youth have learnt that civilization is imitating western culture rather than how the youth can be educated about what to do well in the country. Conflict is rooted and has become part of our day to day activities. Awareness creation, learning about conflict resolution and with the COUNSMED methodology individuals can learn how to resolve conflict with themselves and others.”

The Centre for Peace and Reconciliation (CPR) is a leading provider of counseling, conflict resolution and life management services.

“We accomplish these through individual and group counseling, mediation, and other alternative dispute and conflict resolution processes, trainings, workplace tailor-made unique products, community outreaches and research.”

“We are a faith-based organization with ‘Reconciliation’ at the heart of our activities. We seek to promote reconciliation of man to himself; man to others; man to his environment and; finally man to His God and creator,” Dr. Hopeson added.
