Kenneth Nana Akwasi Amoako Attah charged with defilement pleaded not guilty.

He is to reappear on May 30.

Declining bail, the court presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin Doku held that the victim and the accused reside in the same house.

Prosecuting Detective Inspector Kofi Atimbire said the complainant a retired laboratory technician and a grandparent of the victim reside at Dansoman in Accra.

The victim resides with his mother, and the accused is an uncle to the victim.

According to the prosecution, the victim has been running errands for the accused and he has been luring the victim into his room and on several occasions had anal sex with the victim in a sofa in his living room and also on the accused’s bed in his bedroom since 2015 until April this year.

After every act, the prosecution said the accused person threatened the victim not inform anyone else he would kill him.

Inspector Atimbire said the victim kept the ordeal to himself until he went to spend Easter Holidays with his grandparents.

The prosecution said the victim started behaving strangely and was taken to a church in Adabraka for prayers and it was there that he revealed his ordeal at a church service.

According to the prosecution, the pastor of the church advised the complainant to send the child to the hospital.

After seeking medical care at the Korle-Bu Polyclinic, the medical officer recommended that the matter be reported to the Police and she did.

A complaint was lodged with the Domestic Violence and Victim’s Support Unit (DOVVSU) and accused was arrested.

Rahim Salifu charged with defilement, pleaded not guilty.

The court presided over by Mrs Marian Affoh admitted Salifu to bail in the sum of GHs 30,000 cedis with two sureties to reappear on May 22.

Prosecuting Detective Inspector Kofi Atimbire said the complainant is also a mechanic and biological father of the victim.

The victim, prosecution said is a Kindergarten two pupil who lives with her parents at Weija, Accra.

The prosecution said the accused person was the junior brother of the complainant.

Detective Inspector Atimbire said on April 22, this year, at about 4: 15am the accused person was spotted at the complainant’s house and he was invited.

According to prosecution, when Salifu was questioned by the complainant he told him that he had come to look for a place to sleep.

Based on that the complainant asked Salifu to go and sleep in the victim and her siblings’ room whiles he drop his wife at the Lorry station.

Accused obliged but when the complainant returned, he noticed that Salifu was nowhere to be found.

On April 28, this year, the complainant wife detected changes in the way the victim walked and when she was quizzed she mentioned the name of Salifu as the one who had sex with her when he spent the night with them.

The complainant reported matter to the Police and the victim was issued with a Police Medical Report to seek medical attention.

When the victim returned, it was confirmed that she had been defiled. Salifu was arrested and in his cautioned statement admitted defiling the victim.

The accused, Kwame Anane, reportedly shot his 46- year-old lover Agyeiwaa Nkrumah, in her left thigh at Abotereye, near Bogoso in the Prestea Huni/Valley district.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge of attempted murder.

The District Police Commander of Prestea Huni/Valley, Superintendent of Police Timothy Dassah, disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Prestea.

He said on October 8, around 1930GMT, the victim was in her house at Abotereye when the accused went with a locally manufactured pistol and shot her, after which he drunk a substance suspected to be poison in a bid to commit suicide.

Supt Dassah said a group of youth, who stay closer to Agyeiwaa’s house, rushed to the scene at the time of the incident and rescued the two and sent them to Aseda hospital at Bogoso for treatment.

He said Anane was treated and discharged on the same day, but was later arrested for questioning.

The Police commander said even though some of the pallets spread on the victim’s thigh they were yet to receive the x-ray report to confirm whether some other parts of her body were affected.

Sackitey who kept smiling while the facts were being presented pleaded guilty.

The court presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku however rejected his explanation and convicted him accordingly.

Prosecuting Detective Inspector Kofi Atimbire said Sackitey and the victim reside in the same community at Weija.

On September 17, this year, the Prosecutor said the victim visited a public toilet and was returning home when she met Sackitey who gave her money to go and buy him sachet water.

Prosecution said when the victim delivered the water, Sackitey asked her to bring it in his room.

As soon as she entered, prosecution said Sackitey locked the door and threatened her not shout else he would kill her with a knife.

Detective Inspector Atimbire said Sackitey undressed the victim and pushed her on to his bed and had sex with her.

After the act, prosecution said Sackitey gave the victim GH₡ 5.00 and warned her not to tell anyone. The victim however informed her sister and a report was made to the Police on September 29.

A medical form was issued to the victim so she could be examined at a medical facility. The medical report showed that a she had been defiled.

Prosecution said Sackitey was therefore picked up by the Police and in his caution statement he admitted the offence.
