An Accra Circuit Court has remanded Bright Amuzu, a teacher, and Prosper Owusu, a mason into police custody for allegedly conspiring to commit crime, robbery and causing harm.

The two pleaded not guilty to the charges and would reappear on June 29.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector K. Adu, told the court presided over by Aboagye Tandoh that the complainant in the case was a taxi driver.

He said on March 23, at about 2100 hours, the accused in the company of one other, now at large, hired the services of the complainant, who was driving a Kia taxi from the Tetteh Quarshie interchange to Pantang.

He said on reaching Pantang junction, the accused persons armed with knives lured the complainant to a quiet dark area, where they attacked and stabbed him on the right side of the chest, and threatened to kill him, and succeeded in snatching the taxi and sped off.

The Prosecution said on April 14, the accused persons together with others were arrested in an armed robbery incident and detained at the Adenta Police station.

On April 24, an identification parade was conducted at the premises of the Adenta District Police Headquarters, where the complainant identified the two as those, who robbed him.

Accused persons in their caution statement denied the offence.

A Circuit Court in Accra has ordered the arrest of Kwame Gyebi, a man who allegedly stated that President John Dramani Mahama will ”fall down” during this year’s Independence Day Parade.

Gyebi, 33, who is being held on charges of threat of death and offensive conduct, failed to turn up in court. hence prosecuting Deputy Superintendent of Police George Amegah prayed for a bench warrant.

The Court, presided by Mr Aboagye Tandoh, obliged the prosecution’s request and adjourned the matter to October 28.

Gyebi has pleaded not guilty and he is currently on bail.

Gyebi is alleged to have made the comment at a drinking spot at Dzworwulu, in Accra, and this was witnessed by some people.

He was said to have boasted that he knew what he was referring to and dared anyone to mark his words.

The matter was reported, consequently, to the Airport Police and he was put before the Court on March 1.
