I stumbled on a news story where Mr. Chris Attoh who recently announced his separation or divorce from his wife made some statements concerning his failed marriage.

As a person who has studied the subject of relationship success, and how to build a happy and long-lasting marriage, I feel compelled to reply. Before I continue to ramble, in case you haven’t read the statement accredited to him. Here is it: “A woman who does not submit to the husband and trust his instinct is not going to be successful in marriage. I think that we have forgotten the fundamentals of marriage. When you love someone, it’s important to be able to forgive, respect and submit.

As a woman, you need to trust the captain of the ship. It’s truly important if you want peace in your home.”

“If you are a Christian, it is your bible that will take you through your wedding days. Everything happens for a reason. I have a beautiful baby boy, a wealth of experience and a lot of work to do.”

Before we ask a woman to submit. We must ask for the origin of that suggestion. Obviously, it’s from the bible and he has rightly hinted that when he said: “If you are a Christian…” When the woman was asked to submit in that verse of scripture, we conveniently forget to recall that the man was asked to love and die for her. Yes, that’s the complete Bible.

I am not privy to the hidden secrets of their marriage but Mr. Chris’s statement may reek of entitlement mentality. A prevailing philosophy by many men in my generation. “When a woman is submissive to a man, that marriage will be successful”.

This is a fallacy that needs to stop. It is not the 9 – 5 job of a woman to make her marriage work while the man treats it like a side hustle. The success of ANY marriage is a full-time job for both the man and the woman. It takes a man that is ready to die for her and a woman that is ready to submit to such a die-hard man.

When you make mistakes as a man and your woman is finding it hard to forgive you. It’s not because she forgot the need to be submissive. It’s because, just like you made a mistake, she hasn’t learned to master her emotions and let go of the hurt you caused her. She probably wouldn’t be in that shape had it not been your mistake. This goes both ways.

I have constantly poised in my teachings that anybody can be married but not anyone can build a Happy and Longlasting marriage. With all due respect sir, this is basically what that ‘submit’ verse was talking about – ‘If you are not ready to die for her, you are not eligible for a marriage that is Happy and Longlasting.’
I have never met Miss Damilola Adegbite and I am certain that she has her flaws just like you. She may even be the one with ‘bigger troubles’. However, if I will respond in the same manner you made that statement, here is what I would say, “when a woman believes a man can literally die for her, she would hold on to him forever. Submission will never be a problem”
A great mind said, “When people feel loved, it is easier for them to listen.” and I couldn’t agree more.

To every man out there who is shying away from taking responsibility for the success or failure of their relationship or marriage, you need to answer these questions:

Have you loved her enough?

Does she feel like she’s the most important person to you?

Have you lived in such a way that she can vouch for you?

Have you been 100% committed to her and her success?

Do you often ask her to make more sacrifices than you have shown willingness to make?

Can you die for her?

Until all your answers to these questions are in the affirmative, you have no right to demand submission. If she gives you, great, she’s a developed woman and if she doesn’t, understand that she’s just in the same phase you are in – ignorant!

Ghanaian actor Chris Attoh has given out some fundamentals of a successful marriage, few days after confirming his divorce from Damilola Adegbite.

Chris, who appeared on StarChat hosted by Bola Ray on Starr FM on Wednesday said the reason most marriages don’t work is that ‘we’ have forgotten what the fundamentals of marriage are.

“When you love someone it is important to be able to forgive, to be able to respect, to be able to submit. As a woman, you need to trust the captain of the ship. It’s really important if you want peace in your home,” he said.

Chris added that it is amazing the number of lessons married people can draw from the Bible.

However, he does not regret ever getting married to Nigerian actress Damilola.

“I believe that life is too short for regrets and everything happens for a reason. I have a beautiful baby boy. I have a wealth of experience and I have a lot of work to do,” he added.

About 7 months ago, rumours were rife that Chris and Damilola had separated. However, Chris had told Citi Showbiz the stories were false.

A few days ago, he confirmed to bellanaija.com that they were truly divorced and that they are now more concerned about raising their son, Brian.

The two actors got married in 2015 after having played sensual roles in a couple of movies.

Divorce rumours and speculations about Ghanaian actor Chris Attoh and his Nigerian wife Damilola Adegbite can rest now because the actor has let the cat out of the bag.

Christopher Attoh has finally confirmed that he is divorced from Nigerian actress Damilola.

About 7 months ago, reports had it that the marriage of the two celebrities had hit the rocks but Chris told Citi Showbiz that is was not true.

However, an interview he had with bellanaija.com recently reveals that the two are no more married.

In his confirmation Chris Attoh said “…since the divorce, we are obviously now reworking things to create a new balance between work, spending time with and raising our son.”

Chris spoke passionately about his ex-wife Damilola Adegbite and son Brian and how he managed them with his work.

“I believe throughout our marriage, it was probably one of the most challenging things we ever did. However, the key word is balance. At times when we both had to work, our parents would be there to hold the fort. God bless family because they were and still are very supportive,” he said.

“However, since the divorce, we are obviously now reworking things to create a new balance between work, spending time with and raising our son,” Chris added.

He further noted that despite the divorce, he is still on good terms with Damilola and that they are doing all they can to ensure a better upbringing for Brian.

“Dami is a wonderful woman and an amazing mother. Despite our differences, she and I will always be friends. So, more than anything we will find ways to continue to make sure that Brian can still have a balanced upbringing filled with love and support. Both our families have been and are still very supportive in helping us take care of our son Brian when we can’t be there due to work,” he said.

The two got married in 2015. But Chris had told the media in several interviews that his sisters had always not been in support of the marriage.

Recently, the ‘Six Hours to Christmas’ actor was appointed ambassador to Iflix Ghana online streaming service.

Ghanaian film actor, director and presenter, Chris Attoh, has proffered an advice to celebrities that are in relationships or intend to do so.

Speaking to citifmonline.com, he said celebrities should know what they really want before they get into relationships.

“Relationships are things that should be left to those who are in it. When you are outside a relationship you have a different view of it but those in it know better. But I will advise that before you get into the relationship you should take your time and know what you want and give it a shot. If it works, fine! If it doesn’t, you learn from your mistakes and you shine,” he stated.

Recently, it was rumoured that Chris and his Nigerian wife Damilola Adegbite, also an actress, had separated. When asked if the rumour was true, the celebrated actor declined to answer but rather said both Damilola and their child were doing well.

“Damilola is fine, our baby is also growing faster and faster,” he told Citi Showbiz.

With regards to his movie career, Chris disclosed that he would be flying to the United States in May for his second Hollywood project.

“I’m flying off to the United States to film in a movie which will be my second Hollywood collaboration, for it’s important to put Ghana on the map. I think that when you become comfortable with becoming area champion you don’t go anywhere,” Chris revealed.

He also hinted that he would soon be launching a big project in Ghana.

“Earlier on this year, I actually made noise on something very big that I am working on and it’s coming even closer so Ghanaians should expect it very big especially in the entertainment world,” he said.

Comparing the state of Ghana’s film industry now to the past, he intimated that there has been some improvement in the Ghanaian movie industry now than before.

“We’re making our film closer to how movies should be made now as compared to how it used to be. Technically, there has been some improvement in our movie industry,” he said.

Mr. Attoh also asserted that if the movie industry will be better the movie industry needs to follow the steps of the President of the Musicians Union of Ghana, Bice ‘Obuor’ Osei Kuffuor.

“I’m gonna use my brother Obuor as an example because he changed the music industry to what it is today. It comes down to having foresight and I pray for a lot more patriotism. It’s good to remember that change begins with the individual,” he said.

Chris Attoh has starred in movies like ‘Six Hours to Christmas,’ ‘Sinking Sand,’ ‘Single and Married,’ ‘A trip to Jamaica,’ with television series like ‘Tinsel’ and ‘Shuga,’ and others.

He is also one of Ghana’s finest Masters of Ceremonies and a broadcaster.

A member of the legal team for embattled businessman, Alfred Agbesi Woyome, Ahmed Musah has dismissed media reports that Mr. Woyome lied about the payment of $500,000  under the orders of former Chief of Staff, Kwadwo Mpianim.

“He is not liar and I wouldn’t say so because he is before the court and the court has not made that definite conclusion. The respect is only to the conclusion of the court and not to the conclusion to any person or group of persons standing outside the court room,” Mr. Musah said.

Mr. Alfred Agbesi Woyome on Monday told an Accra High Court on Monday that Mr. Mpianim ordered the payment of $500,000 into a GNPC account at Prudential bank to finance projects for the CAN 2008 tournament.

Mr. Mpianim however denied giving orders for the payment.

But speaking to Citi News, Mr. Musah insisted  his client never lied.

In his opinion, it was inappropriate for conclusions to be drawn into the case when the court had not yet given its ruling.

“We should not seek to do something that will prejudge a person’s case. This is a case that will end up affecting the right of the person before the court and we have to respect the court, we have to respect the person’s right. We should not sit to condemn him before he is judged by the court.”

Mr. Woyome was dragged to court by Attorney Generals Department over GHC 51 million wrongfully paid to him as judgement debt by the state.

The State prosecutors presented nine witnesses to testify against Mr. Woyome.

The case is being heard at the Accra High Court presided over by His Lordship Justice John Ajet-Nassam.

The Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong has been in court to support the prosecution team since Mr. Woyome opened his defence in court.

Mr. Alfed Agbesi Woyome on Monday told the Accra High Court hearing his case that he paid 500,000 US dollars into the  GNPC account at Prudential Bank to finance the initial projects of CAN 2008. He said the payment was done by the orders of then Chief of Staff, Mr. Kwadwo Mpianim.

He told the court presided over by His Lordship John Ajet-Nassam that he pre-financed activities of then Local Organizing Committee of the CAN 2008 chaired by O.B Amoah.

Mr. Woyome added he was responsible for soliciting for funds to construct the necessary infrastructure needed at that time to rebrand Ghana as a sports tourist destination ahead of the CAN 2008 tournament.

According to Mr. Woyome, two letters were written by Mr. O.B Amoah and then Deputy Finance Minister, Agyemang Manu to the Department of Commerce in the United States to confirm how instrumental and genuine he, Mr. Woyome was in Ghana’s bid to host the CAN 2008 tournament.

He further revealed how he pre-financed the feasibility studies, environmental impact assessment and architectural drawings of facilities needed for the CAN 2008 tournament.

Mr. Woyome said he contracted a foreign company called PMP Legacy Company in England to develop feasibility studies for the entire projects of CAN 2008.

He explained that funding arrangements for the CAN 2008 were expected to be sourced from some barrels of oil which he convinced Libyan government to support Ghana with as plans were afoot to host the CAN 2008 tournament.

He regretted that the Libyan deal was later abrogated by the Kufour administration  under the watch of Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie who was at that time Deputy Managing Director of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation.

Asked about what he did for CAN 2008 which begun in 2005, Mr. Woyome said he funded the Local Organizing Committee activities.

He implied that he was also responsible for the bidding processes and by extension solicited for funds to execute the needed infrastructure to rebrand Ghana as a sports tourism destination ahead of the tournament.

He stated, “creating a sports legacy for Ghana and seeking a redefinition of sports as a tool for development in Ghana was agreed upon by me and the Kufour government.”

Minister for Justice and Attorney General, Marietta Brew Appiah was in court to support her legal team as the state prosecutor, Matthew Amponsah  is determined to refund the monies paid to Mr. Woyome as judgment debt.

His Lordship Justice Ajet-Nassam adjourned the case to May 19, 2014  and accordingly instructed the accused lead counsel, Lawyer Sarfo Boabeng to always guide his client to be on point in his submissions.

Led by his Counsel, Sarfo Boabeng, the accused at the last court sitting opened his defense to prove that the GHC 51 million paid to him as judgement debt was legitimate.

This was after the presiding  judge, His Lordship John Ajet-Nassam earlier dismissed Mr. Woyome’s application of no case against the state prosecutors.

The state prosecutor, Matthew Amponsah is doing everything possible to retrieve the GHC 51 million paid to Mr. Woyome as judgement debt.

At the last court sitting, Minister for Justice and Attorney Generals Department, Marietta Brew Appiah- Oppong was there to support the state prosecutor.

Alfred Agbesi Woyome is standing trial for allegedly defrauding the state under false pretence.
