Richmond Boakye Yiadom’s future has been thrown into doubt as the agent of Black Stars forward, confirmed that the player will leave Serbian side Red Star Belgrade for main stream Europe by the end of next summer’s transfer window.

The former Juventus striker has been in prolific form for the Serbian outfit and already has 35 goals in 44 appearances this calendar year which has seen him attract a lot of interest from Europe’s big clubs including English giants Chelsea.

The 24-year old forward has been in Belgrade for less than a year, joining from Italian Serie B side Latina in January 2017.

In an exclusive interview with Citi Sports, Oliver Arthur disclosed that his client will be playing in mainstream Europe at the beginning of next season.

“Richmond will move to mainstream Europe very soon. It can even be this January but definitely by June, he will make the move,” he said.

A move away from Red Star will be his ninth since moving to Europe in 2008.

Ghana’s Richmond Boakye-Yiadom, Joseph Attamah, Patrick Twumasi, Kassim Nuhu and Kadri Mohammed played in Thursday’s round 3 of the UEFA Europa League group stages.

Boakye-Yiadom played 80 minutes for Red Star Belgrade in their 1-0 loss to Arsenal. He came close to adding to his 31 goals this calendar year but his first half header hit the woodwork. Eventually, Olivier Giroud got Arsenal’s winner after 85 minutes.

Boakye-Yiadom was subbed due to an injury but he confirmed via a tweet that it was not major and he was looking ahead to the return clash in England.

My injury is minor. Arsenal were lucky. We fought & will fight again next time out at the Emirates. @crvenazvezdafk will advance.

Patrick Twumasi, who played 90 minutes, was luckier than Boakye-Yiadom on the night as he scored twice for Astana in their 4-0 win over Maccabi Tel Aviv.

He got a first half penalty and a close-range finish in the second  before Junior Kabananga got two more to help Astana win the match.

Joseph Attamah Larweh played 90 minutes for Istanbul Basksehir in their 3-1 loss to Hoffenheim. He featured at centre-back but could not save his team from going down to their second loss of the competition.

Kassim Nuhu saw 90 minutes for Swiss side, Young Boys, in their 2-2 draw with Dynamo Kiev. With the result, Young Boys failed to win their first away match in the UEFA competition in 12 attempts.

Former AshGold defender Kadri Mohammed played 90 minutes for Austria Vienna as they lost 3-1 to Rijeka of Croatia. Mohammed’s team is now 4th in the group and is yet to win a match in the competition.

Mohammed came up against fellow Ghanaian, Maxwell Acosty, who played 79 minutes for Rijeka.

All these players are expected to play for their teams when the competition returns on November 2.

Chelsea boss, Antonio Conte, is rumoured to be interested in signing Ghanaian international and Red Star Belgrade striker Richmond Boakye.

According to GhanaSoccernet, the news has been confirmed by a “credible Stamford Bridge source.”

Boakye, 24, has enjoyed an impressive start this season, scoring 10 goals and providing three assists in 16 appearances with Red Star Belgrade.

Scouts on their way

Conte already knows Boakye, as the Ghanaian signed for Juventus in 2012, where he played a single game and scored one goal.

Before leaving La Vecchia Signora in 2014, the striker was loaned to Sassuolo in 2012 and to Elche in 2013.

According to GhanaSoccernet’s report, it is understood that Chelsea will send a scout to watch Boakye in both Red Star Belgrade’s Europa League matches against Arsenal on October 19 and November 2, respectively in Belgrade and London.

Only in 2017, Boakye has scored 30 goals. It’s been said that the quality of his scoring has made him one of the deadliest strikers in world football.

From free transfer to £10m

Earlier this year, Boakye’s parent club, Serie B side Latina, went into bankruptcy. They were forced to give away their players for free.

The striker joined Red Star Belgrade, team on which he has shown some impressive performances.

“When I was young like around my 20’s everybody was saying that I have talent,” he told Pulse Ghana Sports earlier this month.

“In football we have ups and downs. Sometimes it happens and I sat down and analyzed certain things that I realized was wrong with me.

“When I went to Latina, unfortunately, I got a groin problem which took me out for four to 5 months.

“I just put my bad fortunes aside and put things in place with my personal advisor Sharaj Ahmed and we came with a solution.

“This is what is working for me now and I am following that trend.”

Now, the striker who is currently on Ghana duty, has a £10m valuation. For this price, it would be rare if the Belgrade squad tries to block a Chelsea move.

Ghana and Latina striker Richmond Boakye Yaidom has disclosed that he is responding to treatment and is well on his way to recovery after suffering a concussion in a Serie B match against Citadella.

The incident occurred just 23 minutes into the match after he collided with an opponent.

The striker passed out on the pitch before he was picked up and taken to a nearby hospital by the emergency ambulance present at the stadium.

About 56 trucks loaded with various goods have been locked at the Elubo border following a new directive that has been enforced by La Cote D’Ivoire.

A letter signed by the Head of Shipper Services at the Ghana Shippers Authority, Sylvia Asana Owu indicated that the government of the republic of La Cote D’Ivoire has begun enforcing an existing directive requiring all cargoes originating from non-ECOWAS countries and destined to La Cote D’Ivoire to be cleared only at the seaports of La Cote D’Ivoire.

The statement further said “in view of the enforcement of this directive by the Ivoirian authorities, trucks carrying cargoes destined for La Cote D’Ivoire but originating from non-ECOWAS countries and not in transit through La Cote D’Ivoire would not be allowed clearance at the land borders for entry into La Cote D’Ivoire.

The Ghana Shippers Authority has however served notice to all transit operators, freight forwarders and the shipping community to be conscious of this development as they work with the Transport Ministry and other Ivorian counterparts to find a solution to the problem.

Speaking to Citi News, Ms Owu said the directive is having adverse effects on operations.

“….you can imagine the effects this has on the country as a whole because most of the operators are Ghanaians, so certainly it is going to have an implication on operators in this country,” she explained.
