He told The New York Times Style Magazine that he’d built up walls due to issues from his childhood, which led to him shutting down and infidelity.

“The hardest thing is seeing pain on someone’s face that you caused, and then have to deal with yourself,” he said.

The couple had both hinted about it in their music.

“You have to survive,” he said. “So you go into survival mode, and when you go into survival mode, what happens? You shut down all emotions.

“So, even with women, you gonna shut down emotionally, so you can’t connect. In my case, like, it’s deep. And then all the things happen from there: infidelity.”

He hinted that they could have got divorced but he’d had therapy to help him deal with his past experiences.

“You know, most people walk away, and, like, divorce rate is like 50% or something ’cause most people can’t see themselves.”

In 2013, rumours came out that the rapper had been cheating and then there was #elevatorgate when Solange Knowles attacked Jay-Z, while sister Beyonce stayed silent.

More recently Jay-Z’s album, 4:44, alluded to him being unfaithful.

He wrote: “Look, I apologize/Often womanize/Took for my child to be born to see through a woman’s eyes.”

A year before 4:44 came out, Beyonce sang about “Becky with good hair” on her album Lemonade.

“He only want me when I’m not there/He better call Becky with the good hair.”

The rapper and Beyonce had planned to do a joint album but ended up doing solo records instead.

“We were using our art almost like a therapy session. And we started making music together. And then the music she was making at that time was further along.

“So, her album came out as opposed to the joint album that we were working on.”

Not only did Jay-Z open up about his marriage, he talked about his relationship with Kanye West.

“I [talked to] Kanye the other day, just to tell him, like, he’s my brother. I love Kanye. I do. It’s a complicated relationship with us.”

He admitted that it hadn’t always been an easy relationship.

Kanye West reportedly left Jay-Z’s streaming service, Tidal, over a money dispute and he also ranted about him during a concert.

“I’m sure he feels that I’ve done things to him as well. I’m not a perfect human being by no stretch.

“Hopefully when we’re 89, we look at this six months or whatever time and we laugh at that.”

Beyonce used Facebook to confirm her long-rumoured involvement in the project.

Her other co-stars include Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar and Seth Rogan as Pumba the warthog. James Earl Jones will play Mufasa, as he did in the 1994 original.

British comedian John Oliver has also been cast as Zazu, the hornbill voiced by Rowan Atkinson in the first film.

The film is being conceived along the same lines as another recent remake, The Jungle Book, which also saw big names voicing photorealistic computer-generated animals.

It is scheduled for release in July 2019 and will be directed by Jon Favreau, who also led The Jungle Book reboot.

In a statement, he said: “It is a director’s dream to assemble a talented team like this to bring this classic story to life.”

According to television station TV2, around 75 students have signed up.

There’s reportedly so much interest in the University of Copenhagen course – called Beyonce, Gender and Race – that it’s had to move to a bigger lecture theatre.

Professor Erik Steinskog told the Danish broadcaster that he’d be presenting the singer’s lyrics, videos and performances to students.

He says it’s designed to be an academic course where arts and cultural studies undergraduates can pick up credits towards their degree.

“We will analyse her songs and music videos,” he says. “There will be a focus on gender, sexuality and race.

“One of the goals is to introduce black feminist thought, which is not very well known in Scandinavia.

“Beyonce is important in understanding the world we live in. [She] is one of the biggest pop artists today, which makes her important in an analysis of contemporary times.”

The University of Copenhagen’s magazine, Uniavisen, says the Beyonce class is now full.

Prof Steinskog admits he’s a big fan of the singer and says she’s a good indicator of where pop music is heading.

“She’s a controversial feminist, which is crucial. She makes us consider what it means to be a feminist – or what it can mean, but her feminism is addressed to a non-academic audience.

“It is hard not to be impressed. She is extremely good at what she does. Life is too short to work with music I don’t like.”

It’s not the first Beyonce university course.

Rutgers University in the US state of New Jersey launched a class called Politicising Beyonce through its Department of Women’s and Gender Studies in 2014.

Rutgers also had a class about the theology of Bruce Springsteen’s lyrics.

Georgetown University also had a class called The Sociology of Hip-Hop: The Urban Theodicy of Jay-Z, focusing on Beyonce’s rapper husband.

In the UK, a module in Harry Potter and the age of illusion was offered by Durham University.

Prof Steinskog told the BBC that he’s surprised by all the attention the course has got.

“I am taking the discussion from the US to Europe. It makes it possible to discuss theoretical issues and say, ‘Do they look different from a European perspective? What do you think about when you think about race?’

“In the 80s, especially in the late 80s, probably more in the US, there were classes about Madonna – so why is this surprising to the media when we do it now?”

She filmed the video for Blow in the city’s Funplex roller skating rink – where she had one of her first dates.

On Monday, she posted an Instagram tribute to Houston, telling residents they were in her prayers, while posing with a Texas flag.

The star’s BeyGOOD foundation was established in 2013 and partners with global charities to provide housing, food and medical assistance to those in need.

Meanwhile, Kim Kardashian West said she and her sisters and their mother were donating $500,000 (£386,000) to the Red Cross and Salvation Army, writing: “Houston we are praying for you!”

Other artists including Drake and Travis Scott have sent direct aid and messages of support to Texas since the storm began.

Coldplay, who had to postpone a concert in Houston last week because of the hurricane, have also written a song for those affected by the floods.

They debuted the track in Miami on Monday night, with Chris Martin telling the audience it would only be played once.

“This is because we all grew up loving country music, and of course that’s kind of what we think of when we go to Texas,” Martin said.

“So, if you’ll bear with us, this is a new song and we’ll never play this again. We’re gonna sing it in Miami for everybody here, and we’re gonna send it over there to everyone who missed the show.”

The song, called Houston, included the lyrics: “There’s a harmony that bonds down there in Houston/Oh, Houston, you got to keep on keepin’ on.”

The model in New York got members of the Beyhive around the world talking. Some said the waxwork doesn’t resemble the 35-year-old singer and questioned who commissioned it.

Others accused the museum of whitewashing Beyonce’s image.

Now, the New York Times is reporting that model has vanished from the museum floor.

Pictures of the figure started doing the rounds on Twitter on Tuesday night.

And while some Beyonce fans loved the addition to Madame Tussauds, others questioned whether the statue is even Beyonce.

Twitter users have been listing stars they think the statue resembles more, including American conservative political commentator Tomi Lahren, Mariah Carey, Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan.

The statue has even got some fans comparing it to past Beyonce wax figures made by the museum.

We contacted Madame Tussauds for comment on the waxwork and here’s what they had to say.

“At Madame Tussauds, our talented team of sculptors take every effort to ensure we accurately colour match all of our wax figures to the celebrity being depicted,” they told Newsbeat.

“Lighting within the attraction combined with flash photography may distort and misrepresent the colour of our wax figures which is something our sculptors are unable to account for at the production stage.”

So far, there’s been no further comment from Madame Tussauds.

Sharon Kellaway, from Kilworth, recreated the look with five-month-old-twins Senan and Zoe, in less salubrious surroundings – her own back garden.

Sharon told the BBC: “I saw the picture and thought it was great, so I threw on a pink blanket and did my own version.

“My daughter Megan who’ll be six on Sunday took the photo.

“It wasn’t meant to be a big deal, I just threw on the pink blanket for a laugh and sent it to my husband and friend in Canada.

“I would be a fan of Beyoncé – I love her pictures, music and her photographs.”

However her friend thought it was too good to be kept just between them and urged her to share it on social media.

Since then Sharon’s phone has been “ringing off the hook” and she’s in danger of turning into as big a star as Queen Bey. She has been on local, national and international media.

“It’s gone bananas, I’ve been on air in Canada and Australia this morning alone”.

The couple already have a daughter, Blue Ivy, aged five.

There has been no official confirmation of the birth from Beyonce and Jay-Z themselves.

Other photos Beyonce posted after her pregnancy announcement showed her swimming under water, reclining on a bed of roses and sitting naked on a floral throne.

In one, the ‘Lemonade’ singer stood naked, cradling her belly with one hand and a breast with the other, next to the sculpted head of an Egyptian ruler.

Speculation about the twins’ birth had grown in recent days after a woman was photographed entering a Los Angeles hospital on Friday holding a card that read “B + J”.

Beyonce is the most-nominated star in the history of the Grammy awards, and her album Lemonade was the world’s best-selling record of 2016.

She had been due to headline the Coachella music festival in California in April, but pulled out on her doctor’s advice.

The twins’ birth – if confirmed – comes only days after actor George Clooney and his wife Amal welcomed their own set of twins, Ella and Alexander.

The ‘Run The World (Girls)’ hitmaker has launched Formation Scholars, which will award scholarships to female students to “encourage and support [those] who are unafraid to think outside the box”.

A statement posted on her website reads: “To add to the celebration of the one-year anniversary of Lemonade, Beyonce Knowles-Carter announces the establishment of Formation Scholar awards for the 2017-2018 academic year, to encourage and support young women who are unafraid to think outside the box and are bold, creative, conscious and confident.”

The scholarships will be handed to four women “pursuing studies in creative arts, music, literature or African-American studies” in attendance at four selected colleges.

The statement adds: “Four scholarships will be awarded, one per college, to female incoming, current or graduate students pursuing studies in creative arts, music, literature or African-American studies. The schools selected for participation are Berklee College of Music, Howard University, Parsons School of Design and Spelman College.”

And Beyoncé is not the only celebrity to offer scholarships to students, Rihanna also set up a program for Caribbean students who are studying in the United States.

Speaking about how, as a child, she dreamed of becoming rich enough to save children all over the world, Rihanna said: “When I was 5 or 6 years old, I remember watching TV and I would see these commercials and I was watching other children suffer in other parts of the world. You know? The commercials where you could give 25 cents and save a child’s life.

“I would think to myself … I wonder how many 25 cents I could save up to save all of the kids in Africa and I would say to myself, ‘When I grow up and get rich, I’m going to save kids all over the world.’ I just didn’t know I’d be in the position to do that when I was a teenager.”

The chart-topping star has been named the most influential celebrity on the photo-sharing website by D’Marie Analytics, with the firm estimating the $1 million figure based on a range of factors, including number of followers, post reach and engagement.

Frank Spadafora, chief executive of D’Marie, said Beyonce’s “limited” use of social media had boosted her earning power.

He told Moneyish: “Her limited release of exclusive, curated content … causes such frenzy from her audience. These days, less really is more.”

Beyonce’s popularity was evidenced earlier this year when she took to Instagram to announce she is expecting twins.

The post attracted 6,335,571 ‘likes’ within eight hours and subsequently broke the record for the most-liked image on the website.

Beyonce’s snap of her cradling her baby bump overtook the previous record of Selena Gomez, who achieved 6.6 million ‘likes’ from her 116 million followers in response to a picture of her sipping from a Coca-Cola bottle.

Selena has been named as the second-most influential celebrity on social media, with a post from the 24-year-old star estimated to be worth $775,000 each across Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

Despite this, Selena recently admitted her “addiction” to Instagram made her feel awful.

The brunette beauty explained that her infatuation with the photo-sharing website caused her to feel “like s**t” – even though she has so many followers.

The ‘Hands to Myself’ hitmaker said: “As soon as I became the most followed person on Instagram, I sort of freaked out. It had become so consuming to me. It’s what I woke up to and went to sleep to.

“I was an addict, and it felt like I was seeing things I didn’t want to see, like it was putting things in my head that I didn’t want to care about. I always end up feeling like s**t when I look at Instagram. Which is why I’m kind of under the radar, ghosting it a bit.”
