{"id":98964,"date":"2015-03-12T22:44:23","date_gmt":"2015-03-12T22:44:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=98964"},"modified":"2015-03-12T22:44:23","modified_gmt":"2015-03-12T22:44:23","slug":"occupy-ghana-sues-oteng-adjei-for-keeping-luxury-car","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=98964","title":{"rendered":"Occupy Ghana sues Oteng-Adjei for keeping luxury car"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pressure group Occupy Ghana has sued former Energy Minister Dr Joe Oteng Adjei, for keeping one of the luxury vehicles the Ministry bought for a <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/02\/18\/energy-ministry-blows-cash-for-electricity-project-on-luxury-cars-audit-report\/#sthash.PFPgA40T.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>rural electrification project<\/strong><\/span><\/a> for months.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;eFH1KUmKbcU040zEzmCt1KuosG18pVyw&#8221;]Occupy Ghana is asking the court to order Dr. Oteng-Adjei to pay $500 to the state for each of the 222 days that he kept the Lexus, after he was removed from office as Minister.<\/p>\n<p>This comes to a total of about GHC383,000.<\/p>\n<p>The pressure group filed the suit on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at a Fast Track High court in Accra.<\/p>\n<p>In a media interview, Dr Joe Oteng-Adjei, <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/02\/24\/i-kept-state-luxury-car-but-i-have-returned-it-now-oteng-adjei\/#sthash.tEllAe9b.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>admitted keeping<\/strong><\/span><\/a> the state\u2019s luxury vehicle, months after he left office.<\/p>\n<p>This however was after the Member of Parliament for Adanse Asokwa, <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/02\/19\/oteng-adjei-cruising-in-lexus-bought-with-electricity-cash-kt-hammond\/#sthash.u7ZTTgth.woazMHlD.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>KT Hammond revealed<\/strong><\/span><\/a> in an earlier interview with <strong>Citi News<\/strong> that Dr Oteng-Adjei was keeping the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister clarified that he \u201cdid not steal it\u201d and has since returned the vehicle to the Energy Ministry after the revelation.<\/p>\n<p>He further explained that he kept the vehicle because there was an agreement between himself and the Ministry of Energy, to keep the car because his new Ministry&#8217;s (Environment and Science) \u201c&#8230; financial situation was a bit difficult\u2026so that we don\u2019t spend money to go and buy another car.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile KT Hammond has made further claims that Dr Oteng-Adjei is still <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/02\/25\/oteng-adjei-is-hiding-one-more-state-vehicle-kt-hammond\/#sthash.jqTQdruo.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>hiding\u00a0another<\/strong><\/span><\/a> state vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>Responding to that claim, he said he believed KT Hammond is on a mission to <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/02\/25\/kt-hammond-wants-to-ruin-me-oteng-adjei\/#sthash.EmGq8W5x.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>tarnish his image<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By: Nana Boakye-Yiadom\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pressure group Occupy Ghana has sued former Energy Minister Dr Joe Oteng Adjei, for keeping one of the luxury vehicles the Ministry bought for a rural electrification project for months.
