Tullow Oil Ghana to layoff workers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tullow oil Ghana has confirmed that it has started consultations with some of its employees who are likely to be laid off in the coming months.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe extent of redundancies and organisational changes will be determined on case by case basis and may therefore differ from one Tullow operation to the other,\u201d a statement from Tullow Oil Ghana said.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;kDFlUFfoObG3RbExs2i3kToxe9axAChC&#8221;]According to the company, the move is as a result of challenges in the oil and gas industry which have taken a heavy toll on crude oil prices.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cit is incumbent on Tullow as a prudent and responsible operator to undertake a global review of its operations to ensure business efficiency and cost reduction,\u201d the explained, underpinned the latest development.<\/p>\n<p>There are reports that majority of the workers who will be affected would be Ghanaians but Tullow has insisted that \u201c\u2026 Tullow remains committed to its stated goals of Local content and Localisation in Tullow Ghana. \u201c<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt will continue to invest in building the capacity of Ghanaians to perform highly skilled roles in every aspect of Ghana\u2019s fast growing oil and gas industry,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n<p>The continuous fall in crude oil prices on the world id=\"caption-attachment-93925\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Finance Minister, Seth Terkper<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Finance Minister is expected to make some key changes in the 2015 budget on Thursday following the effects of the oil prices on the budget.<\/p>\n<p>Government\u2019s revenue estimates for crude prior to the slump in oil prices was pegged at 4.2 billion cedis or 3.1 percent of GDP.<\/p>\n<p>It pegged the figure at 4.2 billion dollars on the assumption that crude oil would trade at 90 dollars per barrel.<\/p>\n<p>However the price of a barrel of crude has hit as low as 49 dollars since government\u2019s projection.<\/p>\n<p>President Mahama early this week announced the decline in oil prices will cost the country about 700 million dollars in oil
