{"id":98672,"date":"2015-03-12T06:41:22","date_gmt":"2015-03-12T06:41:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=98672"},"modified":"2015-03-12T06:41:22","modified_gmt":"2015-03-12T06:41:22","slug":"12-children-return-to-closed-down-countryside-orphanage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=98672","title":{"rendered":"12 children return to &#8216;closed down&#8217; Countryside orphanage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">About 12 children who were withdrawn from the Countryside Children\u2019s Welfare Home at Bawjiase in the Central Region following the <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/02\/02\/hell-at-bawjiase-home-children-reduced-to-sex-objects-starved-and-enslaved\/#sthash.uCOICzDj.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\">revelations of abuse of the children<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0have been sent back\u00a0to the home.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;v3ELr9nFKPwskMCBN8l0XxuXZxA6CJGz&#8221;]The orphanage was closed down by the Department of Social Welfare a few months ago as a result of the revelations\u00a0by investigative journalist Anas Arimeyaw Anas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Department removed about 100 children from the facility but reports say\u00a0months after the closure of the home, about 12 of the children have returned.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0A source at the Department of Social Welfare who confirmed this\u00a0to <strong>Citi News<\/strong> stated that the a welfare officer has been lodged at the home to monitor the conditions of the children.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the source, the children who are BECE candidates, have been sent back to the home to facilitate their academic work ahead of the BECE examinations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Speaking to <strong>Citi News<\/strong> investigative journalist Anas Aremyaw Anas said he was aware of the development and added that he was not surprised at the development.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI am aware of the development and it is not unexpected when it comes to the Department of Social Welfare they always do that.
