{"id":98558,"date":"2015-03-11T14:11:16","date_gmt":"2015-03-11T14:11:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=98558"},"modified":"2015-03-11T14:11:16","modified_gmt":"2015-03-11T14:11:16","slug":"northern-women-receive-training-in-seed-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=98558","title":{"rendered":"Northern women receive training in seed development"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Twenty five women \u00a0from organizations in the three regions \u00a0have been taught how to explore opportunities for promoting best practices in seed development, savings and credit for women economic empowerment, by\u00a0the\u00a0Centre for Indigenous Knowledge and Organizational Development (CIKOD).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The programme is part of planned activities to enhance women economic empowerment for food security in Northern Ghana within the context of the Empower Programme that is being jointly implemented by the Coady International Institute, the University for Development Studies (UDS) and CIKOD.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG-20150310-WA0015.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-98563\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG-20150310-WA0015.jpg\" alt=\"IMG-20150310-WA0015\" width=\"533\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is in partnership with Widows and Orphans Movement (WOM), Rural Women Farmers Association of Ghana (RUWFAG), ProNET North and Centre for Cosmovision and Indigenous Knowledge (CECIK).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr. Daniel Banuoku, Regional Director of CIKOD who doubles as the training Coordinator said the purpose of the training was to provide both leadership and technical capacity support through peer learning and complementary skill training to enhance the skills of participants in promoting indigenous seed development, savings and credit for the economic empowerment of women.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG-20150310-WA0014.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-98562\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG-20150310-WA0014.jpg\" alt=\"IMG-20150310-WA0014\" width=\"533\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe training will enhance the leadership capacities of trainees and contribute to improving their ability to effectively lead women for change,\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG-20150310-WA0012.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-98561\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG-20150310-WA0012.jpg\" alt=\"IMG-20150310-WA0012\" width=\"533\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr. Banuoku explained \u201cthe workshop would afford participants the opportunity to share experiences on seed development, savings and credit approaches, challenges and prospects as well as enabled them to acquire basic skill for value addition in seed processing, storage and marketing.\u00a0It would further aid them to acquire techniques in developing sustainable savings and credit schemes and also equip them with basic skills in leading women for change and their wellbeing in local communities.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By : Mahama Latif\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Twenty five women \u00a0from organizations in the three regions \u00a0have been taught how to explore opportunities for promoting best practices in seed development, savings and credit for women economic empowerment, by\u00a0the\u00a0Centre for Indigenous Knowledge and Organizational Development (CIKOD).
