{"id":98135,"date":"2015-03-10T11:48:25","date_gmt":"2015-03-10T11:48:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=98135"},"modified":"2015-03-10T11:48:25","modified_gmt":"2015-03-10T11:48:25","slug":"angry-kpone-youth-threaten-to-burn-asogli-plant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=98135","title":{"rendered":"Angry Kpone youth threaten to burn Asogli plant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hundreds of youth at Kpone within the Kpone Kantamanso constituency in the Greater Accra Region have gone on rampage, destroying property in the area because according to them, the installation of the Asogli power plant has not benefited the area.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG-20150310-WA0009.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-98137\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG-20150310-WA0009.jpg\" alt=\"IMG-20150310-WA0009\" width=\"630\" height=\"472\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>They said they raised concerns when the plant was going to be constructed but the traditional council and officials from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) allayed their fears.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG-20150310-WA0005.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-98136\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG-20150310-WA0005.jpg\" alt=\"IMG-20150310-WA0005\" width=\"631\" height=\"473\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The angry youth who claim some members of the Traditional Council are directly benefiting from the Asogli power plant must be removed for depriving the community of what is rightfully theirs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG-20150310-WA0007.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-98144\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG-20150310-WA0007.jpg\" alt=\"IMG-20150310-WA0007\" width=\"632\" height=\"474\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A member of the communication team of the Concerned Youth of Kpone, Mayor Sani told <strong>Citi News\u2019<\/strong> Elvis Washington that since the plant was set up, most of the residents have relocated because there is \u201cnoise pollution which affects the people living around the Asogli.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG-20150310-WA00051.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-98147\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG-20150310-WA00051.jpg\" alt=\"IMG-20150310-WA0005\" width=\"631\" height=\"473\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have the Asogli power plant on Kpone land\u2026we don\u2019t get any benefit from Asogli.
