The Speaker of Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho has expressed serious concerns over the dominance of money<\/strong><\/a><\/span> in Ghana\u2019s politics.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”crcwYT45HmvgivuaRpSOQhp48I5hvFKM”]He observed that Ghana\u2019s democracy has got to a stage that money rules rather than seeking the interest of Ghanaians.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have monetized politics, all of us. If you don\u2019t pay they won\u2019t vote for you,\u201d the Speaker of Parliament stated.<\/p>\n

This he said have had a negative effect on the country\u2019s democracy because those who have good intentions but may not have money to spread would not get the chance to go into politics.<\/p>\n

Edward Doe Adjaho made the observation on Wednesday during the inauguration of a new set of leaders for the nation\u2019s Parliamentary Press Corp.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cAs somebody that has devoted my youthful years to this position, my worry is where are we going as a country” Our people may say it is the quality of our MPs but I can tell you that it is not the quality of MPs, because we have very good materials in the current MPs.\u201d<\/p>\n

He thus called on his colleague politicians and Members of Parliament to desist from such situation which he described as extreme monetization of the nation\u2019s politics.<\/p>\n

In a related development, the Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna has blamed churches for making them corrupt<\/strong><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou[Pastors] tell us that if you can afford GHC 1,000, come for this special prayer \u2026so if I\u2019m sitting there as a Minister and I cannot afford, I will be ashamed so the next time, I will do all means to get money and that is why we have officials trying to steal money because they have to be respected in the church,,\u201d he argued.<\/p>\n
