{"id":94085,"date":"2015-02-25T05:30:58","date_gmt":"2015-02-25T05:30:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=94085"},"modified":"2015-02-25T04:54:25","modified_gmt":"2015-02-25T04:54:25","slug":"nayele-cocaine-saga-state-could-have-short-circuited-the-case-lawyer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=94085","title":{"rendered":"Nayele cocaine saga: State could have short-circuited the case \u2013 Lawyer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Lawyer for one of the freed alleged accomplices of Nayele Ametefe, Frank Davies has stated that\u00a0the state unnecessarily prolonged the case in court even though it had no evidence.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;XDrXIuGCMmFg6LTUbn8US4JniR0FWcaw&#8221;]He said he had on several occasions advised the State Attorneys\u2019 to \u201cshort circuit\u201d the case because they had no evidence against his client, Abiel Ashitey Armah, and five others who were charged with abatement and conspiracy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nayele Ametefe has been <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/contextly.com\/redirect\/?id=l8LP5dxoev:93906:2534:13::yxkv3R0V9gLHrYauWJBE8WacA:only_previous:54ecc3c39e1247-95819909\" target=\"_blank\">sentenced to eight years in prison<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0in the United Kingdom for trying to traffic cocaine into that country.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/12\/22\/alhaji-dawood-and-5-others-for-court-today-over-nayele-cocain-saga\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Six persons were subsequently arrested<\/strong><\/a><\/span> in Ghana for allegedly aiding Nayele\u2019s trip to the UK.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">However an Accra Circuit Court on Tuesday <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/02\/24\/nayeles-alleged-accomplices-freed\/#sthash.zlTM8wMh.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>acquitted and discharged all six persons<\/strong><\/a><\/span> following a\u00a0nolle proseque filed by the state prosecutors.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Speaking on <strong>Eyewitness News<\/strong>, \u00a0the elated Frank Davies said,\u00a0\u201cYou charge these poor Ghanaians with abatement and conspiracy and the one who was arrested and \u00a0spotted with the narcotic drugs go to court and pleads guilty and say I am prepared to serve my time, never mentioned even a single name and the state thinks the prosecution system will allow you to prosecute those arrested here?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr Davies indicated: \u201cfrom the beginning I didn\u2019t know what they were up to and I kept on saying it is in the interest of the state to short-circuit the process and do the honorable thing and get the accused persons discharged rather than put us to this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>I feel vindicated \u2013 Alhaji Dawood<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile one of the accused, Alhaji Dawood in an interview with <strong>Citi News<\/strong> said <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/02\/24\/nayele-cocaine-saga-i-feel-vindicated-alhaji-dawood\/#sthash.pX0sjHx2.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>he feels vindicated<\/strong><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Alhaji Dawood said: \u201cI am very happy that I\u2019ve done nothing wrong, I helped people, this is just coincidence but I thank God almighty for seeing me through. I will be very careful next time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI really thank God almighty; he has redeemed my image today. He is a faithful God.
