They say female Muslim students are not allowed to put on hijab, a traditional scarf worn by Muslim women to cover their hair and neck and sometimes their face on campus.<\/p>\n
They insisted that Muslim students should not be forced to attend Sunday church services in schools.<\/p>\n
Government later warned<\/strong><\/a><\/span> that heads of institutions, including schools and work places, found to be contravening the basic constitutional rights of the Muslims will be sanctioned.<\/p>\n Christian Council calls for calm\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n But the Christian Council is of the view \u00a0that the issue should be left with the National Peace Council, religious leaders and the Ghana Education Service to resolve it amicably.<\/p>\n \u201cIn addressing this religious issue, the Council pleads with the National Peace Council, religious leaders and the Ghana Education Service to begin to look into the issue and build a consensus around it.\u201d<\/p>\n The council also bemoaned how Christians students in some Islamic Institutions are not allowed to freely exercise their faiths adding that \u201cWe also admonish our members to remain calm, and remember that we have addressed similar issues peacefully in the past and we are well able to resolve this amicably.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAs a Council, we are willing to cooperate with the National Peace Council, Muslim leaders and the Ghana Education Service in building a consensus, and we admonish all stakeholders to actively get involved,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n National Peace Council takes steps to resolve the issue<\/strong><\/p>\n Meanwhile, the Council further stated that \u201cthe National Peace Council has already taken up the issue and is working at resolving it to ensure peace.\u201d<\/p>\n![\"muslim](\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/muslim-demo-in-WR-22.jpg\")
