The leadership of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) are at the Accra Regional Police Command to answer questions over their decision to use unapproved routes during the \u201cw\u0254n gbo\u201d demonstration.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday the Police went to court to enjoin the NPP to stick to the route agreed on.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”v32wfdh0qZn46QBgz5dyKd8S2OG6xOre”]But during the protest on Wednesday, some of the organizers reportedly used the Central Business District instead of the agreed TUC-Accra Polytechnic route.<\/p>\n
The Police accused the NPP of defying an agreement<\/a> <\/strong><\/span>on the routes used for the protest and\u00a0indicated that it will invite the party<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>to answer questions to that effect.<\/p>\n \u201cWe will be calling them to come and explain their actions,\u201d said Accra Regional Police Commander DCOP Christian Tetteh Yohunu.<\/p>\n Confirming the invitation to\u00a0Citi News<\/strong>\u00a0, the National Organizer of the NPP, John Boadu \u00a0insisted they followed the court\u2019s order.<\/p>\n According to him the party sacrificed its personal gains and marched through only the routes approved by the court.<\/p>\n \u201cIf a court gives an order it supersedes that of the Police and even that of our personal gains because our real routes was to use Kwame Nkrumah circle to Parisco to TUC to Accra polytechnic but \u00a0the court ruling given to us was that we should use TUC and that is exactly what we did and the match was very peaceful.\u201d<\/p>\n He advised the court not \u201ccreate an impression that there is a problem\u201d between the party and them that is \u201cwarranting an invitation.\u201d<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n By: Marian Efe Ansah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana
