{"id":92248,"date":"2015-02-17T17:30:45","date_gmt":"2015-02-17T17:30:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=92248"},"modified":"2015-02-17T17:33:26","modified_gmt":"2015-02-17T17:33:26","slug":"dont-sell-drugs-to-your-patients-gma-to-doctors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=92248","title":{"rendered":"Don&#8217;t sell drugs to your patients &#8211; GMA to Doctors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Ghana Medical Association(GMA) has described as unethical, the unauthorised sale of drugs by some doctors.<\/p>\n<p>A press statement issued by the GMA said such practice by these doctors are clearly geared towards \u201cprofit making\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The GMA is reliably informed that, some doctors are engaged in the business of promoting and\/ or selling of drugs to their patients \/clients in the consulting rooms.In the opinion of the National Executive Committee of GMA this practice is unethical and should not be encouraged,&#8221; it indicated.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/gma-logo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-58658\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/gma-logo.jpg\" alt=\"gma logo\" width=\"364\" height=\"330\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/gma-logo.jpg 364w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/gma-logo-300x271.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 364px) 100vw, 364px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;4cbqY9r9WFttAm0lWBzbbdTRL23c0DHz&#8221;]\u201cSome of these drugs include cellgivity and others.This practice by doctors involved can be described as a case of interest since the motive is clearly geared towards profit making,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n<p>The GMA therefore, advised health institutions to be vigilant and intensify supervision to stem the phenomenon.<\/p>\n<p>It further warned that the law will deal ruthlessly with anyone found on the wrong side of the law.<\/p>\n<p>This stern warning might be part of measures to cut down on false medication.<\/p>\n<p>In 2014, a\u00a05-year-old dispensing technician who was alleged to have been operating as a medical doctor and pharmacist for the past six years <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/10\/29\/fake-doctor-operates-in-tema-for-6-years-2\/#sthash.07C7I3py.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>was arrested by the police.<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"itemFullText\">\n<p>The suspect, identified as David Asare Darko, reportedly practised medicine and dentistry without qualification and a licence as a registered medical practitioner under the Health Professionals Regulatory Bodies Act.<\/p>\n<p>According to the police, Darko was also operating as the owner of Darko Drug Store at the Tema European Market, where he offered his services as a medical doctor.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Marian Efe Ansah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Ghana Medical Association(GMA) has described as unethical, the unauthorised sale of drugs by some doctors.
