demo \u2013 NPP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Despite receiving\u00a0the clearance\u00a0to embark on their planned demonstration on Wednesday, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said the Police tried to secure a court injunction to stop the protest.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;pdCRe3hXJRD7EJnY6ZhhWgqJzdDEKzQP&#8221;]The General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong revealed this at a press conference on Tuesday but fell short of explaining why the Police tried to stop them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe Police went behind us to get a court injunction\u00a0[to restrain us]\u00a0but the court threw them out,\u201d he\u00a0said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr. Agyepong\u00a0added that &#8220;I have in my possession court documents relating to the injunction application.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Greater Accra Regional Police Commander DCOP Christian Tetteh Yohuno on Monday disclosed that his outfit and the NPP had had disagreements over the proposed routes for the protest.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The NPP last week announced plans to stage a demonstration on <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/02\/10\/npp-sets-feb-18-dumsor-demo\/#sthash.ap7uKNjP.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Wednesday February 18<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, over what they described as the worsening power and economic crisis.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At Tuesday&#8217;s press conference, the General Secretary said they are ready for the February 18 demonstration to show government how they are unhappy with the current energy and power situation in the country.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/npp-press-conference-5.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-92237\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/npp-press-conference-5.jpg\" alt=\"npp press conference (5)\" width=\"768\" height=\"575\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The NPP\u2019s scribe also disclosed that the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) and the People&#8217;s National Convention (PNC) have confirmed their participation in the exercise.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/npp-press-conference-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-92235\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/npp-press-conference-2.jpg\" alt=\"npp press conference (2)\" width=\"768\" height=\"575\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Present at the conference was Kofi Adda, former Energy Minister, Ursula Owusu Ekuful, Nana Akomea and John Boadu.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/npp-press-conference-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-92236\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/npp-press-conference-3.jpg\" alt=\"npp press conference (3)\" width=\"768\" height=\"575\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile, there are indications that leading members of the NPP including the party\u2019s 2016 Presidential candidate, Nana Akufo Addo and his running mate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/02\/14\/akufo-addo-to-lead-npp-dumsor-demo\/#sthash.DTtUbq6D.KThjRKVX.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>will join the demonstration<\/strong><\/a><\/span>\u00a0according to Kwabena Agyepong.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Godwin Allotey Akweiteh &amp;
