The committee investigating circumstances leading to the crash landing of an Ethiopian cargo plane at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) last month has described as inconclusive their preliminary report on the incident.<\/p>\n
According to the Chairman of the committee, Captain Samuel Thompson the cause of the accident can only be ascertained after a final report is presented in the next three months.<\/p>\n

The seven-member committee was mandated to establish the cause of the accident, determine the extent of injuries and ascertain the extent of loss or damage to property.<\/p>\n
The committee is also expected to consider issues relevant to safety at the airport, and to make recommendations to forestall any such future occurrences.<\/p>\n
Captain Samuel Thompson speaking to Citi Business News after presenting a preliminary report on the accident to the Minister of Transport Dzifa Attivor said,\u201d we can’t tell you what has happened”.<\/p>\n
But he confirmed that after assessing the flight data readout the incident happened at 11:09 am contrary to 11:05am as earlier reported on Saturday January 10.<\/p>\n
“when the plane landed the right main gear broke off , and then the right engine touched the runway and as it skidded off , it came off and then the left gear came off and the right gear came off and it came to a rest, basically that is what happened “, he stated.<\/p>\n
After receiving the preliminary report, Dzifa Attivor said government will be expecting the in-depth analysis of what caused the accident to guide government in taking key decisions in the future.<\/p>\n
Other members of the committee include Ben Asare Buotu, a retired Safety Inspector, Kenneth Kwakume, a retired Air Traffic Controller and Amos Narh, a retired staff of the Ghana Meteorological Service.<\/p>\n
The rest are Chris Quaye, a retired Director of Airport Operations, Josephine Nkrumah, a legal expert and Wing Commander Joseph Adu Gyamfi of the Ghana Air Force.<\/p>\n
