A committee mandated to investigate the student riots that occurred at Tuna Senior High Technical Schoo<\/span>l<\/strong><\/a> in the Sawla-Tuna Kalba district in the Northern region will be inaugurated on the Tuna campus on Wednesday, February 18, 2015.<\/p>\n

The Northern Regional Director of Education, Paul Apanga has revealed.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”Dnqti8iHy1UGr5WDPbXvmQqK0mbnY636″]\u201cThe regional education office is liaising with the District Chief\u00a0 Executive of the Sawla-District assembly, the Board of Governors \u00a0of the School including other stakeholders to put together the committee\u2019\u2019.<\/p>\n

Paul Apanga added that, the committee\u2019s mandate will be to investigate the immediate causes of the riot and make recommendations to prevent future occurrences.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are looking at inaugurating the committee on February 18 on the campus to allow them start work immediately\u2019\u2019.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Educationist Annis Hafer has condemned the recent student riots blaming the riots on indiscipline on the part students and teachers.<\/p>\n

There have been students \u00a0riots at the Saint Paul\u2019s Senior High School at Denu in the Volta region and at the Tuna Senior High Technical School in the Northern region, after a teacher allegedly ordered a female student to take off her clothes in front of her colleagues for dressing indecently.<\/p>\n

Speaking in an interview with Citi News on Monday, Mr. Hafer said, that it was imperative to urgently tackle indiscipline in our schools if the country wanted to produce credible future leaders to steer its affairs.<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cLet\u2019s end this culture of silence in our schools, where students are not allowed to freely express themselves. This suppresses the students and only produces future leaders who are not confident enough to occupy key positions.<\/p>\n
