{"id":9185,"date":"2014-03-28T06:26:08","date_gmt":"2014-03-28T06:26:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=9185"},"modified":"2014-03-28T06:26:08","modified_gmt":"2014-03-28T06:26:08","slug":"get-nana-konadu-agyeman-rawlings-into-npp-nigeria-npp-chair","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=9185","title":{"rendered":"Get Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings into NPP &#8211; Nigeria NPP Chair"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_9186\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9186\" style=\"width: 295px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Nana-Konadu-A-Rawlings.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9186\" alt=\"Nana-Konadu-A-Rawlings\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Nana-Konadu-A-Rawlings.jpg\" width=\"295\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Nana-Konadu-A-Rawlings.jpg 295w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Nana-Konadu-A-Rawlings-245x300.jpg 245w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 295px) 100vw, 295px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9186\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Nana-Konadu-A-Rawlings<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Chairman of the Niger\u00adian branch of the New Patri\u00adotic Party (NPP), Kofi Atiemo-Gyan, has stressed the need for the leadership of the party to initiate talks with other opposition par\u00adties to wrest power from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).<\/p>\n<p>Mr Atiemo-Gyan, a lawyer and president of the National Association of Ghanaian Communities in Nigeria in an interview with the DAILY GUIDE on a recent visit to Ghana said, &#8220;If NPP wants to capture power, you don&#8217;t stay in your house alone and use your family members to\u00a0campaign or to look for\u00a0power.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He added, &#8220;You extend\u00a0your hand to even the\u00a0enemy to convince them&#8221;\u00a0asking rhetorically, &#8220;What\u00a0is the difficulty in embracing Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings into NPP?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In 2012, the former first lady founded the National Democratic Party &#8211; a breakaway from the NDC &#8211; and became the\u00a0nation\u2019s first-ever female candidate to be endorsed by a political party to contest for the presidency.<\/p>\n<p>But late filing of her papers meant she could not contest. She is said to be considering running again in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Kofi Atiemo-Gyan\u00a0therefore, stressed\u00a0the urgent need for the\u00a0leadership of the NPP to\u00a0begin behind- the-scene\u00a0talks with leadership of<br \/>\nvarious opposition (smaller) political parties to come\u00a0together ahead of the 2016\u00a0general elections.<\/p>\n<p>This, according to him,\u00a0could enhance their\u00a0chances of unseating\u00a0incumbent the President\u00a0John Mahama and his\u00a0NDC from power.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We should put pride\u00a0aside and begin to talk to\u00a0some people in those parties because if they are selling power and you sell\u00a0your mother to go and buy\u00a0that power, get the power\u00a0first and use the power to\u00a0go and take your mother\u00a0back,&#8221; he emphasized.<\/p>\n<p>The NPP Chair advised\u00a0the current leadership of\u00a0the party and the yet-to-be\u00a0elected national executives\u00a0not to take chances with\u00a0the 2016 elections.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Atiemo-Gyan also\u00a0stressed the urgent need\u00a0for the NPP to close their\u00a0ranks by burying their\u00a0individual differences in<br \/>\nthe larger interest of the\u00a0party ahead of the 2016\u00a0elections.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Source:<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Chairman of the Niger\u00adian branch of the New Patri\u00adotic Party (NPP), Kofi Atiemo-Gyan, has stressed the need for the leadership of the party to initiate talks with other opposition par\u00adties to wrest power from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).
