The Minister for Interior, Mark Woyongo has charged the Officers of the\u00a0Ghana Police Service to remain fair in the discharge of their duties despite the numerous challenges they may encounter.<\/p>\n

The Police administration has, over the years, attributed their failure to\u00a0effectively control the rising levels of crime in the country to a lack of logistics.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”zioaFeQ1ccs9EvRL6ZDr1TUfo9dfoLKz”]However, speaking at the annual celebration of the West Africa Security Services Association (WASSA) of the Police Service in Accra, Mr. Woyongo\u00a0says the onus is on the police to remain a significant and important part of the society by carrying on with they work diligently in spite of their challenges.<\/p>\n

“As officers of the law you will be encountering varying challenges but you must remain determined, committed and dedicated among others to ensure that your duties are not compromised,” he said<\/p>\n

He added: “In our present democratic setting, we are aware that the public is yearning for a police service which answers their needs.\u00a0A service which operates with the ethics of openness and fairness and a service which reaches out to those who are most marginalized and especially the poor vulnerable and disadvantaged.”<\/p>\n

The ceremony was attended by the Commander-in-chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, President John Dramani Mahama, who\u00a0charged\u00a0the country\u2019s security agencies to be on high alert<\/strong><\/span><\/a> following the recent wave of terror attacks on the Africa continent.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe must prepare and train for any such eventuality, caustic situations, bombings, attacks on shopping malls etc. etc. are things that we must prepare for,\u201d he advised.<\/p>\n

The armed forces, in turn, stated that they are\u00a0ready to partner other security services<\/strong><\/span><\/a> to fight crime, protect vital national installations and respond to national emergencies.<\/p>\n

The Chief of Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces, (GAF) Major-General Bobinson Saagbul,\u00a0pledged the administration\u2019s commitment to prepare their officers and men for their tasks and responsibilities in a manner that encouraged hard work, discipline, dedication to duty and culture of unity.<\/p>\n
