{"id":91382,"date":"2015-02-14T06:00:51","date_gmt":"2015-02-14T06:00:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=91382"},"modified":"2015-02-14T06:40:28","modified_gmt":"2015-02-14T06:40:28","slug":"akufo-addo-to-lead-npp-dumsor-demo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=91382","title":{"rendered":"Akufo-Addo to lead NPP \u2018dumsor\u2019 demo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 2016 \u00a0Presidential Candidate for the New Patriotic Party(NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo will lead the much anticipated \u2018dumsor\u2019 demonstration, according to the\u00a0Deputy Director of Communications for the party, Anthony Karbo.<\/p>\n<p>The party will <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/02\/10\/npp-sets-feb-18-dumsor-demo\/#sthash.ap7uKNjP.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>embark on a protest<\/strong><\/span><\/a> to express its displeasure over what they described as Ghana\u2019s \u00a0unending power crisis.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the <em>Point Blank<\/em> segment of <strong>Eyewitness News<\/strong>, Karbo said: \u201cNana Akufo-Addo will be at the fore front of this demonstration because he needs to show that it is the concern \u00a0and welfare of Ghanaians that matters.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_59017\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-59017\" style=\"width: 495px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/anthony-karbo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-59017\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/anthony-karbo.jpg\" alt=\"Anthony Karbo\" width=\"495\" height=\"330\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/anthony-karbo.jpg 495w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/anthony-karbo-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 495px) 100vw, 495px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-59017\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Anthony Karbo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;P1Ikag3irdj11OotnQlNvRk6xLInWCnf&#8221;]Many have called on the party to rather provide alternatives to end the crisis instead of just <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/02\/12\/stop-criticizing-govt-over-dumsor-provide-alternatives-ndc-to-npp\/#sthash.EZaE4vcJ.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\">criticising the government.<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Karbo however believes their criticism and planned protest is legitimate since the crisis, according to him, has lasted for three years under the Mahama administration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis crisis has lasted for three years. Some of the handing over notes the NPP gave to the NDC in 2008, didn\u2019t include this electricity crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Karbo further recalled that the Kufuor administration in 2007, took \u201ccertain measures\u201d when it was faced with similar power challenges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Kufuor administration did not sit down and ask the NDC to provide alternatives for us in terms of what we needed to do. We knew how to get out of the mess and that is why one of the things that we did was to establish the VRA plant in Tema which gave us a 110 megawatts\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Karbo further chastised government for what he described as delays in completing crucial\u00a0 projects that would have ensured that Ghana\u2019s power generation systems are strengthened.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAtuabo should have been ended by 2010.
