The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) is asking Ghanaians to brace themselves up to endure inconsistent water supply due to the current energy crisis.<\/p>\n

Residents of most parts of Accra have been without water supply since Thursday due to what the GWCL described as an electrical cable blast at the Weija Water Treatment Plant.<\/p>\n

The company says it depends largely on power supply from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to pump water to households.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”mK97aWZyvNa3FZx0v1ATuyfevtv0UIkL”]The company has appealed to the public to store enough water any time their taps are running to last them till the next opening.<\/p>\n

Communications Manager at the GWCL, Michael Agyemang told Citi News<\/strong>,\u00a0“over the years, ECG used to give us dedicated supply so every day, we had power supply,\u201d but he pointed out that some people have began tapping into the GWCL\u2019s power supply lines \u201cso we are now not having that situation where we used to have dedicated lines.\u201d<\/p>\n

This, according to him, is worsening the situation as it prevents adequate power to be transferred to them by ECG \u201cand in such situations, we also have to stop the supply of water.\u201d<\/p>\n

He indicated that in the time of challenges, his outfit has been consistently announcing to the public to enable citizens know the state of affairs.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow that we are in the dumsor period, people may have to be storing water every now and then so that they don\u2019t face hardship,\u201d Mr. Agyemang advised.<\/p>\n

The energy crisis which has existed for three years has worsened in recent times.<\/p>\n

Ghanaians now have access to 12 hours electricity and 24 hours of no electricity which has angered many<\/strong><\/span><\/a> who have described the situation as unbearable.<\/p>\n

The power crisis which has adversely affected businesses<\/a><\/span>, <\/strong>schools<\/strong><\/span><\/a> and<\/span><\/span>\u00a0households has informed the New Patriotic Party\u2019s (NPP) decision to embark on a demonstration<\/strong><\/span><\/a> against the government.<\/p>\n

A pressure group called Concerned Ghanaians has also served notice they will hit the streets on March 6<\/strong><\/span><\/a> \u2013 Ghana\u2019s Independence Day to protest against the energy situation.<\/p>\n
