Consequently, the assembly and Contracta had identified the Adehyeman and Royal markets for that purpose. Traders plying their trade in various shops at the kejetia lorry terminal who will be affected by phase one of the project will be located to these alternative markets&#8230;For now traders at the central market would only be relocated when the phase 2 or phase 3 are about to begin.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The city mayor also noted that traders from the Kejetia lorry terminal who will be relocated to Adehyeman and Royal markets will stay in their new shops for free.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said &#8220;Traders plying their trade in various shops at the Kejetia terminal who will be affected will be located to the alternative markets for free without paying a dime as rent for the shops they are going to occupy.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Again, &#8220;legal owners of the buildings that would be affected would be compensated.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr Kojo Bonsu said a company, Engineering systems and Services Limited has been employed by the contractors register the traders to prevent the, losing their shops.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A biometric registration would be carried out with the bio-data of the rightful owners captured and stored on a database that cannot be altered.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Store owners are therefore assured that upon completion of the market, they would be given the first option for the stores before any other consideration&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Parliament has approved of a loan facility of $298 million for the reconstruction of the kumasi central market.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The project which had been awarded to a Brazillian firm, Contracta will see the inclusion of a clinic, police post, fire post and educational facilities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The project will commence on the 31st of March 2015, however traders in the central market are still worried about their welfare, the KMA will thus start a sensitization program to get them all on board.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Lauretta Timah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Assembly has assured traders at the Kumasi Central market that the assembly will not displace them when the reconstruction of the market begins.
