The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has welcomed the decision by the National Democratic Party (NDP) to join them to demonstrate on February 18.<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”mM9eNLS61LDFSkZAtvY4SvPCUcG7QGWT”]The NDP; a break away party from the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) says its decision to join the NDC<\/strong><\/span><\/a> to hit the streets is fueled by the \u201cobvious bankruptcy\u201d on the part of the Mahama-led administration that has resulted in the energy crisis.<\/p>\n

Their affirmation comes just two days after the NPP announced its decision to hit the streets demanding that government immediately fixes the economic challenges confronting the nation.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Citi News<\/strong>, the Director of Communications for the NPP, Nana Akomea lauded the NDP for making such a move.<\/p>\n

According to him, the NPP is not the least surprised that the NDP is throwing its weight behind them to demonstrate.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were not surprised; we are happy about it because who in this country has not been traumatized one way or the other by this dumsor?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n

Nana Akomea observed that Ghanaians \u201cgenuinely\u201d want a solution to the power crisis which has existed for three years, adding that the frustrations citizens are feeling will definitely push them to join the demonstration \u201cbecause they want some action to be taken.\u201d<\/p>\n

The power rationing exercise, he said \u201cstarted with six hours, then it went to 12 hours and then to 24 hours. People are even complaining of 36 hours. It\u2019s getting worse.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nana Akomea was therefore certain that the \u2018dumsor\u2019 demonstration will yield the needed results since \u201ca failing government fears two things \u2013 demonstrations and elections.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, another group calling itself, Concerned Ghanaians will on March 6 also demonstrate<\/strong><\/span><\/a> against the worsening power situation.<\/p>\n

Although the Police has urged them to reschedule due to the Independence Day parade, the group has served notice the demonstration will take place with or without Police protection.<\/p>\n
