The criminal case against ace broadcaster, Kwesi Kyei Darkwa (KKD) has once again been adjourned to February 18.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”ToyOeM1Ki2Nbl1lgq2ZYjP9nKoL3kH0g”]An Accra Magistrate has adjourned the case because KKD could not appear before the court due to a medical appointment on Thursday.<\/p>\n
His lawyer, Tony Forson was represented by Susana Nyarkoa who told the court that KKD was billed to see a Clinical Psychologist on Tuesday after his medical review on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
KKD has been charged with rape<\/strong><\/span><\/a> after he was arrested for allegedly raping a 19-year old girl in December 2014.<\/p>\n Although the alleged victim wrote to the court to withdraw the case<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, the Attorney General (AG) decided to pursue<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>it to its logical conclusion.<\/p>\n The KKD alleged rape saga: The story so far<\/strong><\/p>\n December 27, 2014<\/strong>: Renowned broadcaster Kwasi Kyei Darkwah is arrested by the police at the African Regent Hotel and is held at the Airport Police Station in Accra.<\/p>\n December 28, 2014:<\/strong>\u00a0The police processed KKD for court but they were unable to present their case to the court due to their late arrival.<\/p>\n December 29, 2014<\/strong>: A member of KKD\u2019s family told Citi News that they suspect foul play in the circumstances leading to his arrest.<\/p>\n December 30, 2014:<\/strong>\u00a0KKD is charged with rape and makes his first appearance in court where he is denied bail by a Kaneshie Magistrate court.<\/p>\n December 31, 2014:<\/strong>\u00a0Lawyers for KKD filed another bail application at the Human Rights court in Accra which they describe as a \u2018higher court\u2019 following the denial of their original application.<\/p>\n December 31, 2014:<\/strong>\u00a0In their application for bail at the Human Rights Court, the lawyers say that security footage at the hotel from the night of the incident captured the complainant and their client \u201cromantically kissing\u201d adding that the two were locked in a similar embrace after the alleged incident.<\/p>\n December 31, 2014:<\/strong>\u00a0The fashion icon, in a Facebook post, assured his sympathizers that he is \u201calive and well\u201d and warns his detractors not to speak of his demise yet.<\/p>\n January 8, 2015:<\/strong>\u00a0KKD is admitted at the Police Hospital in Accra after he was seen limping badly during his case for bail which was adjourned by the Magistrate Court.<\/p>\n January 13, 2015:<\/strong>\u00a0The 19-year old alleged rape victim wrote to the court stating that she was no longer interested in the case. KKD later in the day apologized for what he described as the \u201ctrauma\u201d he has caused the 19-year-old woman he allegedly raped.<\/p>\n January 14, 2015:<\/strong>\u00a0The victims letter to withdraw the case was forwarded to the Attorney General\u2019s department.<\/p>\n January 15, 2015:<\/strong>\u00a0KKD was granted bail on humanitarian and health grounds.<\/p>\n January 22, 2015:<\/strong>\u00a0The Attorney General’s Department announced that they will pursue the case despite the victim\u2019s request for the court to drop the case.<\/p>\n January 29, 2015:<\/strong>\u00a0An Accra magistrate court adjourned the rape case to February 5, 2015.
