14 districts in the Northern Region do not have Police stations and\u00a0the Northern Regional Police Commander, DCOP Ken Yeboah has said the situation is hampering effective Policing in a rather volatile region.<\/p>\n
The affected districts include Tolon, Sagnarigu, Kumbungu and Mamprugu Mogdo in the overseas area.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”CbEfPTT2XYob4yLIMcgUi5lbDXiXp87g”]\u201cI must say that out of the 26 political districts we serve, 14 do not have district Police headquarters, some do not have police stations at all,\u201d DCOP Yeboah lamented.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt affects our Policing activities in the region: the citizens there do not have access to our services and then it makes our response time very bad: if something happens at Bunkprugu we have a Police station there but because of the numbers and because of the terrain. it is very difficult.\u201d<\/p>\n
DCOP Ken Yeboah brought this to the fore at a meeting with the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Julius Debrah who was in the region for a five day working visit.<\/p>\n
The Northern Regional Police Commander also decried the alarming rate of murder cases recorded in the region.<\/p>\n
\u201cCrime trend in the region is not as high as it used to be but the major crime is murder and this is caused by the conflicts.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said despite the myriad \u00a0of challenges, his men will continue to protect lives and property.<\/p>\n
According to DCOP Ken Yeboah, destruction of farmlands by the cattle of Fulani herdsmen were also on the rise in the region.<\/p>\n
