{"id":89254,"date":"2015-02-07T06:00:28","date_gmt":"2015-02-07T06:00:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=89254"},"modified":"2015-02-06T19:25:21","modified_gmt":"2015-02-06T19:25:21","slug":"chief-imam-launches-human-rights-defenders-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=89254","title":{"rendered":"Chief Imam launches Human Rights defenders project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, National Chief Imam, has launched the Human Rights Defenders Project in Accra to fight against the violation of women and children\u2019s rights.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The project, which will be run to be under the supervision of the National Chief Imam, will include periodic visits to schools to educate students on their basic human rights, and advance women\u2019s engagement in national and domestic matters.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It would also organise public debates, quizzes and competitions on human rights and gender issues.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sheikh Sharubutu whose speech was read for him, said the project seeks to address the misinterpretation of\u00a0\u00a0religious texts \u00a0in promoting male\u00a0<span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">dominance and power over women.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said the project would also bring other human right activists\u00a0<span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">to advocate for the human rights of women and girls.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe Human Rights Defenders Project would facilitate the promotion of greater women\u2019s involvement in the home, communal and national discourse, consultations and efforts to find solutions to conflicts, public disorder and other social problems,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sheikh Sharubutu also announced his intention to lead a delegation of Muslim leaders, to participate in the International Conference on Women and Girls Human Rights at the Carter Center in Atlanta, Georgia, starting from February 6 to 16..<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Conference would be discussing issues relating to ending violence.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Source: GNA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, National Chief Imam, has launched the Human Rights Defenders Project in Accra to fight against the violation of women and children\u2019s rights.
