Danquah would have rebuked Mahama over corruption \u2013 Nana Addo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The several corruption cases in the last few years in Ghana would have triggered fierce criticism from one of the country&#8217;s statesmen, J.B Danquah against President Mahama, according to\u00a0Nana Akufo Addo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The flag bearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) said this\u00a0at the J.B. Danquah\u2019s Symposium on Wednesday on the theme; \u201cDanquah \u2013 The Unfinished Agenda.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to Nana Addo, J.B Danquah abhorred \u201cmisuse of public money at any circumstance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;WpH9LrpGBltIAuYQIUw1ct6yriuvTnzw&#8221;]He insisted that Dr. J.B. Danquah, one of those who fought for \u00a0Ghana\u2019s independence, would have reprimanded President Mahama following revelations of various corrupt activities in his government.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIn his day, his typewriter was always handy to write letters to those in authority and beyond to see that some wrong was righted. He argued passionately that the public money ought to be managed by people who are committed to the country\u2019s interest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There have been a\u00a0number of corruption cases in recent times, notably the <a title=\"A-G chases Woyome Gh\u20b551 million\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/08\/12\/a-g-chases-woyome-gh%e2%82%b551-million\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>payment of GHc51 million<\/strong><\/span><\/a> to businessman Alfred Woyome and alleged shady deals and misappropriation of funds by officials of <a title=\"Gov\u2019t orders withdrawal of GYEEDA adverts\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/04\/24\/govt-orders-withdrawal-of-gyeeda-adverts\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>GYEEDA<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, <strong><a title=\"Fast-track SADA,GYEEDA revolution \u2013 Council of State to Mahama\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/05\/10\/fast-track-sadagyeeda-revolution-council-of-state-to-mahama\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\">SADA<\/span><\/a><\/strong> among others.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI wonder what he would have made of Woyome, GYEEDA, SUBAH and SADA and all the reports of the blatant misappropriation of public money for private ends today. \u00a0One thing I can assure you is that If Danquah were alive today President John Mahama would be receiving letters or probably emails from him all the time. And so with the minister of finance on how the country\u2019s resources should be put to better use,\u201d Nana Addo said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The NPP flag bearer said;\u00a0\u201cWe need to strengthen the institutional mechanisms for dealing with corruption to promote this end.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAbove all we need the personal examples of our political leaders especially the president of the Republic to demonstrate the public service is exactly that public service. Those who seek wealth in public service have no place there. Their place is\u00a0 in the private sector where the making of money is a legitimate and necessary activity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nana Addo was addressing the memorial lecture\u00a0on the 50th anniversary of the death of Dr. J.B.
