The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo-Addo, has said the family and lovers of the late J.B. Danquah have forgiven Ghana\u2019s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah for abandoning him to eventually die in prison.<\/p>\n

Danquah\u2019s Symposium on Wednesday on the theme; \u201cDanquah \u2013 The Unfinished Agenda,\u201d Nana Addo said all must \u201cforego all feelings of bitterness and to say unreservedly to Kwame Nkrumah, his family and his supporters that we forgive what took place on that day.\u201d<\/p>\n
Nana Akufo-Addo also urged all persons embittered by the tragic death of the late J.B. Danquah to let go and forgive.<\/p>\n
He called for the promotion of the spirit of reconciliation between all parties \u201cfor the sake of Mother Ghana, her progress and prosperity.”<\/p>\n
He recalled that J.B. Danquah was a \u201cselfless, forgiven, and principled patriot. We need to take a cue from him.\u201d<\/p>\n
“It is time that we moved on from the understandable bitterness that continues to fill the hearts of many who love his work and contribution because of the cruel circumstances of his death,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Today marks the 50th anniversary of J. B. Danquah\u2019s death; one of those who fought for Ghana\u2019s independence,\u00a0but\u00a0died tragically in detention, without trial, at the Nsawam Medium Security Prisons on February 4, 1965.<\/p>\n
