{"id":88385,"date":"2015-02-04T16:30:25","date_gmt":"2015-02-04T16:30:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=88385"},"modified":"2015-02-04T17:53:47","modified_gmt":"2015-02-04T17:53:47","slug":"j-b-danquahs-family-disappointed-over-denied-access-to-nsawam-prison","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=88385","title":{"rendered":"J.B Danquah\u2019s family disappointed over denied access to Nsawam prison"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Members of Dr. J.B Danquah&#8217;s Danquah Funeral Committee says they are disappointed by the refusal of\u00a0the\u00a0Interior Ministry\u00a0<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/02\/04\/j-b-danquahs-family-barred-from-visiting-nsawam-prisons\/#sthash.61wMPnAx.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>to grant them access<\/strong><\/a><\/span> to the Nsawam Prison for a commemorative visit.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;u2qdJrMxapwpZ1rDkgnj3WcIYVtgst34&#8243;]The Ministry of Interior in consultation with the National Security and the Ghana Prisons denied the family of the late statesman access to the Nsawam Prisons where he died citing security reasons.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dr. J.B Danquah died in Nsawam prison while on detention there.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But in an interview with <strong>Citi News<\/strong>, a leading member of the committee and a grandson of the late J.B Danquah, stated that though they are saddened by the refusal they will concentrate on the other programs to project the good name of one of the doyen of Ghana\u2019s politics.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe are disappointed that we couldn\u2019t go to the Nsawam prison,\u201d Boakye Danquah-Adu \u00a0said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He indicated that because \u201cWe are law-abiding citizens and a family of adherence of rule of law\u2026we are not making this to become an incident of controversy that mars the greater efforts which is being made for Danquah\u2019s proper place to remain in our development as a country and our attainment of independence and legacy of Danquah.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile, a number of activities have been scheduled <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/02\/03\/nana-addo-speak-j-b-danquahs-symposium-wednesday\/#sthash.ivpG6fBS.j5513hRu.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>to mark the 50 years<\/strong><\/a><\/span> of the passing of Dr. Joseph Boakye Danquah including a symposium, which will be addressed by flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Akuffo Addo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Other speakers include Prof. S.K.B. Asante and C.K.
