[contextly_sidebar id=”m7iC55snyZMdBDqR48sL3oc6qNdAyxuD”]Dr. Kwabena Donkor\u2019s appeal comes on the back of the heavy backlash the NDC government has received over the worsening power situation which has resulted in unannounced load shedding.<\/p>\n
Addressing a stakeholder meeting on the energy sector organized by the Public Utility Regulatory Commission (PURC), the sector Minister said the power crisis should be seen as a national problem.<\/p>\n
He explained that \u201ca radio presenter asked me what had happened to the generation machinery brought into the country under the NPP regime. I cut him off and told him that it is not about NDC, NPP. It is about Ghana and so I will kindly submit that we look at power situation.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to him, Ghana as a nation is \u201con a war front as far as power is concerned,\u201d therefore; the most critical question which should be asked is \u201cwhat are we doing?\u201d<\/p>\n
He stressed that \u201cit\u2019s not going to matter which party is in power\u201d adding that \u201cas a people, we should move away from NDC, NPP phenomenon.\u201d<\/p>\n
Dr. Donkor further gave positive progress report on government efforts to secure more power barges to help with the situation.<\/p>\n
He said government is almost at the end of its financial closure to bring in the two power barges and latest by next week, \u201cthere will be financial closure that will enable the process of getting the badges into the country to begin work.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cSome works would have to be done in Ghana to enable evacuation when the first badge anchors at Tema fishing harbour and once we have financial closure, those works will start,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
