Interior Minister, Mark Woyongo has directed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to effectively monitor the consumption of fuel by Police personnel.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”q516QG2kitln0ZKS63k6JYBrkEdfmWaz”]\u201cI have directed the IGP and the Finance officer so that they will be monitoring the levels of their fuel so that they do not wait until it\u2019s getting dangerously low before they start chasing for more,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The instruction follows the resumption of supply of fuel to the service after Citi News<\/strong> revealed that over a hundred Police patrol vehicles had been grounded because the Service had been hit with fuel shortage<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n The Police Service is reportedly indebted to a number of oil marketing companies who stopped supplying them the product due to non-payment.<\/p>\n The sector Minister in an interview with Citi News<\/strong> after a prayer and thanksgiving service held by the Accra Regional Police Command said the Police service had run very low on fuel and therefore should not be misinterpreted to mean \u201cthey didn’t have fuel. They had fuel but it wasn’t so much.\u201d<\/p>\n He said that when the news broke, he quickly alerted the Minister of Finance and subsequently, monies were released for the purchase of fuel to assist the operations of Police personnel.<\/p>\n Presently, all the Regional Police Commands have been supplied with fuel and according to the Minister, \u201cthere is no problem.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n By: Efua Idan Osam\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana
