{"id":86126,"date":"2015-01-27T13:52:45","date_gmt":"2015-01-27T13:52:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=86126"},"modified":"2015-01-27T13:55:04","modified_gmt":"2015-01-27T13:55:04","slug":"former-greda-boss-ashesi-lecturer-university","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=86126","title":{"rendered":"Former GREDA boss was not an Ashesi lecturer &#8211; University"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ashesi University has dissociated itself from reports in the media claiming that,\u00a0Dr. Alexander Tweneboah, the former President of the\u00a0Ghana Real Estate Developers Association (GREDA) who was arrested on Monday for alleged Sim Box fraud, was a lecturer at the university.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;b1zYziGM5wMncBw6FytrvgwqBvgSHQMi&#8221;]According to a statement signed by the\u00a0founder and President of Ashesi University College,\u00a0Patrick Awuah Jr., &#8220;Dr. Alexander Tweneboah is not, and never has been, a lecturer at Ashesi University College&#8221; contrary to reports by some media outlets.<\/p>\n<p>The statement added\u00a0that Mr.\u00a0Tweneboah visited a Real Estate Development\u00a0class in\u00a0October 2011 while he was President of GREDA, to speak on the topic: \u201cFactors Shaping Real Estate Development in Ghana.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-85871\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/former-greeda-boss-arrested-2.jpg\" alt=\"former greeda boss arrested (2)\" width=\"440\" height=\"330\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The University has, as a result, called for a &#8220;full and unequivocal apology from the\u00a0media institutions that inaccurately identified Mr. Tweneboah as a member of the Ashesi Community.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The former GREDA boss\u00a0was arrested on Monday after he admitted\u00a0using equipment found at the scene to terminate international calls illegally.<\/p>\n<p>Three others were arrested in an anti-fraud collaboration between the National Communications Authority (NCA), telecommunication service providers in Ghana and the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service.<\/p>\n<div class=\"page-header\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Ashesi Community Announcements<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"page-header\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>On SIM box fraud in Ghana, false association with Ashesi and the responsibilities of the media<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>This morning many news agencies carried the story of a group of people arrested yesterday for SIM Box fraud in Ghana. The story showed the remarkable investigative work of Ghana\u2019s Criminal Investigation Department.<\/p>\n<p>However, some news agencies inaccurately identified one of the arrested parties, Dr. Alexander Tweneboah, as a Lecturer at Ashesi University College.<\/p>\n<p>On behalf of the Ashesi Community, I would like to respond directly to this.
