Six Police officers, ranking from Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) to Chief Superintendent of Police, have complained about anomalies in the recent promotions made in the service.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”OyXyFJpaYzSuLmR0TZHs2Z4xtPHSAqwL”]They are therefore asking the President to prevail on Mr Mohammed Alhassan, Inspector General of Police and Madam Rose Bio Tinga, Director General of Administration to review the process.<\/p>\n
In a petition signed by the disgruntled personnel to the President, said the promotions had affected analogous senior officer ranks of the Police, who were fully and duly qualified since 2013 \u201cand this is affecting morale.\u201d<\/p>\n
It said: \u201cThe painful aspect of the delay in promotion is the fact that the effective dates for the recently released promotions were not back-dated.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe the deprived officers who have been denied our promotions are very surprised at the reasons assigned by the police administration\u2019s failure to promote us. The police administration said there are no vacancies to promote officers to their next ranks.\u201d<\/p>\n
The petition said the affected members find it difficult to accept an explanation by the police administration that attending the Command and Staff College is not a pre-requisite for promotion.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhy were the ASPs who have qualified for promotion since 2013 not even been considered during the recent promotions?\u201d The petitioners asked.<\/p>\n
The members appealed to the President \u201cto intercede and release our promotions especially those of us on the ranks of Assistant Superintendent of Police to Chief Superintendent of Police\u201d.<\/p>\n
