{"id":85146,"date":"2015-01-24T06:01:25","date_gmt":"2015-01-24T06:01:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=85146"},"modified":"2015-01-24T11:49:46","modified_gmt":"2015-01-24T11:49:46","slug":"pnc-ppp-others-missing-ecs-electoral-reforms-committee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=85146","title":{"rendered":"PNC, PPP angry over exclusion from electoral reforms c&#8217;ttee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some political parties in the country are unhappy about the Electoral Commission&#8217;s decision to exclude them from <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/01\/23\/mosquito-mac-manu-lead-ecs-electoral-reforms\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>a ten-member committee<\/strong><\/a><\/span> to oversee the proposals for electoral reforms in Ghana.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;eYYOdZEkbQgnr9FoxI8pU8YWrlGnf2Td&#8221;]The committee has General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, Peter Mac Manu of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), \u00a0Anim Kofi Addo from the YES party and James Kwabena Bomfeh from the Conventions People\u2019s Party (CPP).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The rest are Georgina Opoku Amankwa (Chairperson), \u00a0Christian Owusu Parry (EC), Rebecca Kabuki, Kwesi Jonah (IDEG), Ransford Gyampoh (IEA) and Franklin Oduro (CDD).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile, other political parties including the People National Convetion (PNC), Paa Kwesi Nduoms Progressive People\u2019s Party (PPP) among others were not represented on the committtee.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Expressing his disappointment on\u00a0<strong>Eyewitness News<\/strong>, the General Secretary of the PNC, Bernard Mornah said, \u201cwe think it is unfair for us not to have representation on the committee.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said recommendations from the committee will not \u201crepresent the true picture\u201d of all the political parties in Ghana.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cFor instance the PNC does not share the view that we should go e-voting\u2026 but other political parties share the view that e-voting should be the way out in order to minimize electoral fraud, and because the PNC was not represented, we may not be able to persuade our conterparts from other political parties to the dangers that exists in this manner,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He further stated that should they be part of the committee they would also ensure that journalists are given the opportunity to take part in the special voting organised for security personnel.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This he said is because most journalists are busy on the day of election so they usually do not vote stating, \u201cthat in itself is an affront to their franchise.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile, the CPP\u2019s James Kwabena Bomfeh speaking on <strong>Eyewitness News<\/strong> was hopeful the committee will discharge their duties &#8220;diligently as expected of them.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Godwin Allotey Akweiteh\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"twitter-follow-button\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AlloteyGodwin\" data-show-=\"\">Follow @AlloteyGodwin<\/a><br \/>\n<script>\/\/ <![CDATA[\n!function(d,s,id){var \n\njs,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0],p=\/^http:\/.test\n\n(d.location)?'http':'https';if(!d.getElementById(id))\n\n{js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src=p\n\n+':\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js';fjs.parentNode.in\n\nsertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document, 'script', 'twitter-\n\nwjs');\n\/\/ ]]><\/script><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some political parties in the country are unhappy about the Electoral Commission&#8217;s decision to exclude them from a ten-member committee to oversee the proposals for electoral reforms in Ghana.
