Telecom operator, Airtel Ghana, has partnered with Facebook to give free basic internet services for education, health, jobs and communication.<\/p>\n

Head of Corporate Communications at Airtel Ghana, Donald Gwira told Citi Business News,<\/strong> the new service will among other things, benefits internet penetration in the country.<\/p>\n \u2018\u2019This is one of the first of its kind because we are doing it directly with Facebook and it\u2019s about giving access to subscribers to Facebook and internet.org<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n He further added that no subscription was needed to enjoy this service.<\/p>\n \u201cOnce you have an Airtel SIM card, you should be able to access it automatically however normal rates will apply to voice and video calls on Facebook,\u201d Donald Gwira told Citi Business News.<\/strong><\/p>\n So far, Ghana is the fifth country Facebook has connected through Internet.org<\/a>\u00a0— after Zambia, Tanzania, Kenya and Colombia.\u00a0Chief Executive Officer of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg\u00a0in a statement said\u00a0by connecting all Airtel subscribers, they will unlock even more opportunities for Ghana<\/p>\n
