{"id":84710,"date":"2015-01-22T13:03:02","date_gmt":"2015-01-22T13:03:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=84710"},"modified":"2015-01-22T17:38:32","modified_gmt":"2015-01-22T17:38:32","slug":"court-dismisses-case-3-npp-constituencies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=84710","title":{"rendered":"Court dismisses case against 3 NPP constituencies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Supreme Court has dismissed a case filed by \u00a0the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Kumawu constituency, Philip Basoah and one other, seeking to quash the decision to re-run elections in three constituencies.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;Hqzte5JWelbA2DXoLnJr8KawAoSUWLfl&#8221;]In April, 2014, an Accra High Court placed an injunction on the Kumawu, Juabeng and the Manhyia North constituencies.<\/p>\n<p>In its ruling, the court presided over by Justice Bright Mensah noted that the register from the three affected constituencies should not be included in the party&#8217;s delegates register in the conduct of \u00a0its national delegates conference or any election of the NPP till a re-run of their constituency executives elections were conducted.<\/p>\n<p>The NPP subsequently reached an agreement with three aggrieved members in the three constituencies for fresh polling station and constituency elections to be held in these areas in August 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Angered by this settlement, the Kumawu Legislator and his constituency chairman, Joseph Danso, filed a case at the Supreme Court seeking to set aside the arrangement.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking in an interview with <strong>Citi News,<\/strong> lawyer for the three NPP members, Dr. Poku Adusei said the court\u2019s ruling has now paved the way for the elections in the three constituencies to be held.<\/p>\n<p>He said the ruling signifies victory for the party.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Marian Efe Ansah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Supreme Court has dismissed a case filed by \u00a0the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Kumawu constituency, Philip Basoah and one other, seeking to quash the decision to re-run elections in three constituencies.
