{"id":84047,"date":"2015-01-20T15:29:51","date_gmt":"2015-01-20T15:29:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=84047"},"modified":"2015-01-20T15:49:25","modified_gmt":"2015-01-20T15:49:25","slug":"fire-service-emergency-number-now-active","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=84047","title":{"rendered":"Fire Service emergency number now active"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following <strong>Citi News\u2019<\/strong> earlier report that the much publicized emergency number of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) was inactive, the emergency number has been restored and is now operational.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;XBNMgtv4O80lfGr2hGwILDLNKmGnnzjb&#8221;]The emergency number; 192, was switched off when <strong>Citi News<\/strong> began calling it since last Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The head of Public Relations at the GNFS, Elis Robinson Oko told <strong>Citi News<\/strong>, only Vodafone customers or clients can call the emergency number for now.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow, people can call 192 on the Vodafone. When you call now, it goes through,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He indicated that they are working to get the other networks on board saying, \u201cpreviously, we had the other networks but I think there was a little problem so we are still negotiating with them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Robinson Oko pointed out that the other networks are private companies and coming on board will come at a cost \u201cso we have to negotiate with them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There have been more than a dozen fire incidents in the last two weeks across the country, destroying properties and killing people in some instances.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, the Tema Medical stores caught fire destroying medical equipment and supplies worth over GHC 200 million.<\/p>\n<p>Fire also gutted the Kokompe market last Saturday night resulting in the death of one individual.
