<\/p>\nA suicide bomber has killed at least four people in Nigeria after he drove a car which was packed with explosives into a bus station.<\/p>\n
35 others are reported to have been wounded in the attack which happened in the\u00a0north-eastern \u00a0Nigerian town of Potiskum on Sunday.<\/p>\n
No group has, as yet claimed responsibility for the attack, although there are suggestions that the militant Islamist group Boko Haram may have carried out the bombing.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”Sapy6v4zdXXYUzyj6MmvGjuBW1tZvSzE”]The Yobe State Police Commissioner, Danladi Marcus told Reuters News Agency after the attack:”The information I have is that the car was pretending to be scouting for passengers.\u00a0Five people including the bomber were killed in the attack with about 35 others receiving treatment for various injuries at Potiskum General Hospital.”<\/p>\n
Violence in Africa’s most populous country has intensified in recent weeks ahead of the general election next month.<\/p>\n
Nigerians will go to the polls on\u00a0February 14 to elect a president in an election – between President Goodluck Jonathan and his main opposition, Muhammadu Buhari- that is\u00a0expected to be the closely-contested, since the country returned to democratic rule in 1999.<\/p>\n
However, amid heightened the tension in the country following recent attacks by Militant Islamist group Boko Haram, heavy security presence is expected at the polling stations across the country.<\/p>\n

The violence has reportedly\u00a0spread into Nigeria’s neighbouring countries.<\/p>\n
A spokesman for Cameroon’s defense ministry has revealed that\u00a0some Chadian\u00a0soldiers have been sent to \u00a0northern Cameroon to man the\u00a0\u00a0Nigerian border as part of measures to contain the insurgency from the country.<\/p>\n
