Dr. <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"d32fa095-e709-4413-bbf8-72f1975bf354\"><span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"8eb02d9a-b944-4357-a827-70eb4b80cd09\">Awuah<\/span><\/span> is one of thirty-seven Social Entrepreneurs selected in recognition of their innovative approach to social entrepreneurship and <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"1f97880e-bca6-48a6-a296-79e2622bf676\"><span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"00b7d8be-4ae8-4be1-bb75-9d06fd1d8862\">potential<\/span><\/span> for global impact.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSocial entrepreneurs are the driving force behind innovations that improve the quality of life of individuals around the world, and they represent an integral and dynamic community of the World Economic Forum,\u201d said Hilde Schwab, <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"89d44ed6-8964-4f1b-8630-748af9090f13\"><span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"5b5bc673-9bfa-48dc-8c9a-585fc63c4437\">Co-Founder<\/span><\/span> and Chairperson, Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship. \u201cIt therefore gives me great pleasure to announce the 2014 Schwab Social Entrepreneur <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"c3555e7f-18e1-414c-85d5-5c033fb08e1d\"><span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"863baaba-854f-491d-853e-1cbcae30f294\">awardees<\/span><\/span>. The 37 outstanding social <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"6891e41c-bfd8-4b79-a24c-613f5f97cc9c\"><span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"a3373480-c7fd-41bf-bf68-8c04e05b595b\">entrepreneurs we<\/span><\/span> have selected into the Schwab Foundation community this year are designing transformative models in collaboration with government and business partners to generate truly inclusive growth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other 2014 awardees include: Richard Barth &amp; Mike Feinberg of KIPP Foundation (USA); Shelly Batra of Operation ASHA (India); Ashifi Gogo of Sproxil (Nigeria); Martin Kariongi Ole Sanago of Institute for Orkonerei Pastoralists Advancements, IOPA (Tanzania); Jay Kimmelman and Shannon May of Bridge International Academies (Kenya); Sasha Kramer of Sustainable Organic Integrated Livelihoods (Haiti); Javier Armando Lozano of Clinicas del Azucar (Mexico); Nancy Lublin of Dosomething.org (USA); Gbenga Sesan of Paradigm Initiative Nigeria (Nigeria); Merula Steagall of Associa\u00e7\u00e3o Brasileira de Linfoma e Leucemia (Brazil); Chetna Vijay Sinha of Mann Deshi Bank and Mann Deshi Foundation (India); Charles Edouard Vincent of Emmaus D\u00e9fi (France); and Allen Wilcox of VillageReach (Mozambique).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am proud to accept this award on behalf of the Ashesi community,\u201d said Dr. <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"4d09ad98-d4ac-4606-9c35-4d2f9f5641fd\"><span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"f6fcc77e-5049-4e5f-8056-fdf92e4e6250\">Awuah<\/span><\/span>. \u201cAfrica \u2013 actually, the world &#8211; needs more people to commit to improving the lives of the communities around them, and I hope <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"990d1015-0ac6-42aa-ae14-13da848d9139\"><span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"5366a22e-bb87-4923-88e0-d5cc58e992fd\">organisations<\/span><\/span> like the Schwab Foundation will inspire more entrepreneurs who will positively impact the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dr. <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"b531bd4c-358d-4984-999f-b026d8dcc467\"><span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"6c853654-34d7-4b8a-a037-b8a8783e9a91\">Awuah<\/span><\/span> and other 2014 <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"19080afa-7f08-45a6-8072-f1de0507b145\"><span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"b39899c9-5b69-4eb3-8245-2933a162ce49\">awardees<\/span><\/span> will become part of the broader Schwab Foundation community of Social Entrepreneurs, which includes 250 outstanding social entrepreneurs from 60 countries. Schwab Foundation Social Entrepreneurs are fully integrated into the events and initiatives of the World Economic Forum.
