All Nursing and Midwifery Colleges across the country will henceforth use metal detectors to search their students before they enter the examination hall for their exam.<\/p>\n
This follows the cancellation of the licensing examination of 56 nursing trainees of the Holy Family Nursing and Midwifery Training College in Berekum in the Brong Ahafo Region who cheated in an exam using their mobile phones.<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n [contextly_sidebar id=”a7TzHpGSKjWzSEnhS0dkxvPPSv1Us7ql”]The students are reported to have taken pictures of the question papers, sent them to an external collaborator who answered them and then sent the answers back to the students in the examination hall via whatsapp.<\/p>\n This situation has forced the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) to de-recognize the school as an examination center for three years<\/p>\n The Public Relations Officer of the NMC, Eric Mensah Aryeetey told Citi News<\/strong>, the Council will use metal detectors from the West African Examination Council (WAEC) to search students before entering the examination halls.<\/p>\n \u201cIt does not mean that we necessarily have to procure them. WAEC has some in stock,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n He indicated that the Council is now on high alert to ensure both invigilators and students respect and adhere to the rules of the council.<\/p>\n Mr Aryeetey served notice that his outfit will thoroughly investigate the matter and the appropriate sanctions will be given.<\/p>\n \u201cAs to whether it happened in the previous examinations, we don\u2019t have any evidence to show. What happened this time, but for the vigilance of our chief invigilator, it would have gone unnoticed and therefore, for us, it\u2019s an eye opener and we are now on high alert,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n He sounded a word of caution to students that they will be punished if they cheat and subsequently advised them saying, \u201cit\u2019s not proper for anybody to cheat in exam.\u201d<\/p>\n If you try to outwit the system and you are caught, we will sanction you according to the rules and regulations.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n By: Efua Idan Osam\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana
