{"id":81716,"date":"2015-01-13T06:00:11","date_gmt":"2015-01-13T06:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=81716"},"modified":"2015-01-13T06:31:33","modified_gmt":"2015-01-13T06:31:33","slug":"otumfuo-cant-resolve-dagbon-conflict-bombande","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=81716","title":{"rendered":"Otumfuo can&#8217;t resolve Dagbon conflict \u2013 Bombande"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The former head of the West African Network for Peace Building Emmanuel Bombande has stated that the assumption that the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu \u00a0II can automatically resolve the protracted Dagbon chieftaincy conflict could prove illusive.<\/p>\n<p>The Otumfuo-led eminent chiefs <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/01\/11\/dagbon-peace-talks-resume-3\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>committee mediating the Dagbon chieftaincy<\/strong><\/span><\/a> dispute is expected to\u00a0 resume sittings at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region this month [January].<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;UWgwZ5Qk9hZE3QlW6F5RIUGhSJzVUCFO&#8221;]The Regent of Tolon has said the Otumfuo-led<a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/01\/12\/dagbon-conflict-otumfuos-cosmetic-cttee-wont-achieve-anything-tolon-chief\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong> cannot resolve the protracted Dagbon chieftaincy dispute<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to the\u00a0Tolon Naa, Major (Rtd.) Sulemana Abubakari the government should be using the Dagbon traditional methods of conflict resolution to tackle the dispute.<\/p>\n<p>The regent&#8217;s call seems to have received some support from WANEP.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on <strong>Eyewitness News<\/strong>, the former Executive Director of WANEP, Mr Bomabande said the only best alternative to resolving the protracted conflict is for negotiations to be held between the chiefs involved to ensure that peace prevails.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/IMG_1213.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-81477\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/IMG_1213.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_1213\" width=\"768\" height=\"576\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/IMG_1213.jpg 768w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/IMG_1213-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you look at the issue today there is only one alternative\u00a0 and that is to sit down and talk for a rigorous satisfaction between the two royal families, that will lead to a long lasting solution.
