{"id":80928,"date":"2015-01-10T07:00:14","date_gmt":"2015-01-10T07:00:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=80928"},"modified":"2015-01-09T19:21:00","modified_gmt":"2015-01-09T19:21:00","slug":"transport-fares-will-reduced-monday-gprtu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=80928","title":{"rendered":"Transport fares will be reduced by Monday \u2013 GPRTU"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The General Secretary of the Ghana Private Roads Transport Union (GPRTU), Stephen Okudzeto has promised that transport fares will be reduced by Monday, January 12.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;qxTbvESbU9YrYrR9uNspx9SvLp7gY0Kf&#8221;]\u201cI believe from Monday going things will stabilize,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">His comment follows refusal by some \u00a0GPRTU members to reduce transport fares despite a <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/01\/08\/transport-fares-reduce-by-5\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>reduction in fuel prices by five percent<\/strong><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Speaking on <strong>Eyewitness News<\/strong> on Friday, Mr Okudzeto explained that the delay in effecting the new fares \u201cis not deliberate\u201d saying, \u201cthe new list left our offices late yesterday evening and it takes time for these documents to get to them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Though he was angry with the drivers refusing to cut their fares, he was hopeful all their members will implement the new fares adding that\u00a0\u201cthose who are saying that they are not going to reduce, I don\u2019t think they are GPRTU members because anytime there is a directive our members do comply and they are also aware that in case they refuse to comply they would be sanctioned.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He further added that, those in the Ashanti, Brong and Central Regions have started implementing the new fares with the exception of those in Greater Accra.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/trotro.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-78526\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/trotro.jpg\" alt=\"trotro\" width=\"601\" height=\"446\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/trotro.jpg 601w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/trotro-300x222.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 601px) 100vw, 601px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cGreater Accra is very big; we have over 255 branches in Greater Accra alone and we\u2019ve been monitoring the situation.
