{"id":80351,"date":"2015-01-08T06:12:45","date_gmt":"2015-01-08T06:12:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=80351"},"modified":"2015-01-08T06:19:13","modified_gmt":"2015-01-08T06:19:13","slug":"patient-mahama-better-days-ahead-ministers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=80351","title":{"rendered":"Be patient with Mahama, better days are ahead &#8211; Ministers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As President Mahama marked his two years in office last Wednesday, some Ministers of state have urged Ghanaians to exercise patience with the President.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Ministers, all planned policies by the Mahama led administration are on course and will soon translate to better the lot of Ghanaians.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;pjHbAKTMgnPweXAswHe6SXzUkGjDtuiL&#8221;]Ghana has been battling with various economic challenges including rising budget deficit, high inflation, weakened cedi, inconsistent power supply among others, forcing government to resort to the International Monetary Fund for support.<\/p>\n<p>A series of demonstrations have been staged by various civil society, political opponents and pressure groups, to protest what they believe is government\u2019s lack of ideas to solve the economic problems.<\/p>\n<p>However, speaking to <strong>Citi News<\/strong>, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Afotey Laryea Afotey Agbo asked Ghanaians to exercise patience with the President, saying\u00a0\u201c&#8230;with the foundation that is being built, I think Ghanaians should be patient so that we continue with the developmental\u00a0projects that we have embarked on. We have set up this regular monthly meetings that we hope will help us to communicate among ourselves better and understand each other\u2019s position better,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/10\/17\/8-labour-unions-to-strike-over-pension-funds\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>12 labour unions to embarked<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>on a demonstration to protest the non payment of their tier two pension funds into a private account.<\/p>\n<p>This compelled government to s<a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/10\/24\/well-take-disingenuous-labour-on-govt\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>ue the 12 labour unions<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>for taking such a decision<\/p>\n<p>However, speaking to <strong>Citi News<\/strong>, Okudzeto said government has resolved to collaborate with the unions to promote understanding and strengthen partnership.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMoving forward, we want to stop the fire fighting approach and be able to have greater understanding so we hope to strengthen the partnership with the unions because we need the unions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gov\u2019t to improve agricultural sector<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For her part, the Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Sherry Ayittey\u00a0pointed out that government is working very hard to improve the Agricultural sector and provide employment for the youth.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_10975\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10975\" style=\"width: 753px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/sherry.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10975\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/sherry.jpg\" alt=\"Sherry Ayittey\" width=\"753\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/sherry.jpg 753w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/sherry-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 753px) 100vw, 753px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-10975\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sherry Ayittey<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cGovernment wants to invest a lot in agriculture and improve security.
